We had the good fortune of connecting with Joan Strasz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joan, how do you define success?
How do I define success? What makes you happy and productive.

My children and I are a family of entrepreneurs, my son a fine finish painter, my daughter is doing yoga and plants, my youngest is still finding out what he loves, and of course myself a dog trainer.

That is my definition of success, living a content and fulfilling life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My specialty as a dog trainer is training all dogs but especially rescues.

Rescues have their own problems when they come from the chaos of a shelter., add an abuse case then you will have fear. My job is to teach the dog to forget about the abuse and wind in that life will be a joyous adventure for them, all the while working alongside the owners.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Michigan we go to the country, my favorite places in this state is the porcupine mountains in the upper peninsula and Mackinac Island. We would eat the local fare of pasties, fish and of course fudge!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
