“If you can dream it, you can do it.” — Walt Disney I like the concept that the only true limitations we have in life are the ones we place on ourselves. Read more>>

Emmy Kalaji | Engineer | Artist

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” – Confucius This quote holds profound relevance not just for artists but for professionals in any field. What makes it so compelling is the universal message it carries. It speaks to the power of passion and fulfillment in one’s work, which extends far beyond the world of art. It’s important in any job. When you can shape your work according to your vision, it becomes a way to express yourself and grow. This quote also points out that, even when there are challenges and hard work, they’re seen as chances for personal growth, not as burdens, when you’re pursuing what you’re passionate about. Kalene McElveen | Tastefull Vegan Owner,

Success is not final and failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts, by Winston Churchill. I truly believe that as we endeavor to grow in business there will be challenges as well as victories. It’s so important not to stay in the moment. I have to remember to not let success dull my momentum nor let the failures make me pause. When we celebrate the victories and learn from the failures, the success we experience will continue and we can use them to help others in hurdles they may experience along their journey. Kimberly Packer | Mindset Coach

The affirmation I use comes from Scripture (Romans 8:28). This passage has kept me going through a lot of hard times. It simply says that no matter what happens, it’s all used for our good. To me, that means that I can look at the not-so-sunny moments of my journey and know that in the end I’ll see how each event shaped who I’ll become, and all that I become was predestined. Rachel AO | Singer/Songwriter

I was in the car listening to NPR one morning and there were two songwriters being interviewed. Unfortunately I did not catch their names but they were successful songwriters who had a number of hits. One of the songwriters talked about their career and journey in the industry, and how it came with it’s many ups and downs. There were times where quitting seemed to be the solution to the endless no’s and doors closed but this songwriter did not give up and kept writing until one day, they wrote a song that was a massive success and changed their life forever. He then said the quote: “Don’t quit before the miracle”. This inspired me deeply to continue to keep writing songs because you never know when one of your songs will be a success. Read more>>

Kyle Primm | Furniture refinisher & woodworker

A quote I think about atleast once a week is “comparison is the thief of joy.” There are a lot of furniture refinishers in this business and with all the different social media platforms, there are a lot of imitators as well. With editing, filters, and expensive cameras, it’s easy to post content that may look perfect that in fact may not be that great. A few months ago, I was constantly looking at others work and comparing myself and my work which was bringing a lot of self doubt and a lot of “why not me” as far as followers, paid partnerships, and all that is content creation. One of my very favorite quotes is “How you do anything is how you do everything” because it keeps proving to be true. I think you need to create an environment where we set ourselves up for success and it’s how I do things on my own and I also evaluate others with this in mind. I guess it’s a character thing, I really love dealing with people who have figured out how intra-connected we are and what incredible magic can happen when we all get the big picture and pull in the same direction! I have many – MANY – favorite quotes by Tony Robbins. This one is particularly resonating with me at the moment: “Identify your problems, but give your power and energy to solutions.” When you are a business owner, you are faced with multiple problems every day. Some are small problems, some are large problems. It’s easy to wallow in these problems, but that won’t help anything. You have to let go of the negative thoughts that are holding you down and put all of that energy into finding that change, perhaps that pivot. Tony also said, “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” Read more>>

LaKendra Norman | Multifaceted: Brand owner, designer, co-host, mindfulness coach, author, survivor & advocate. Proud Mom and dedicated wife.

My all-time favorite quote: ‘Show love even when they don’t, or else you become one of them.’ It’s my guiding light. I repeat it to myself and others regularly. To me, it’s a reminder to always extend love, even when it might not be reciprocated. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not about being a pushover or tolerating disrespect. It’s about recognizing that unless someone poses a real threat to you or your loved ones, not every situation warrants a reaction. I refuse to compromise my loving, kind, generous nature just to match someone else’s energy, especially if they haven’t yet learned to love themselves. They don’t have to love me for me to remain true to who I am. Read more>>

Ali Woerner | Founder, Artistic Director, Choreographer

My dad wrote me a letter when I was in my undergraduate studies at Oklahoma City University. I had been having some doubts about pursuing a career in dance. He told me, it isn’t the bump in the road itself that is important. It is what you do about the bump that will stick with you. Are you going to lie in a ditch, lose control of your direction? Are you going to get back on the road, learn from the bump and move forward? That piece of advise has stuck with me throughout my career and my life. It can be applied to any situation; work, relationships, no matter your age. We tend to latch on to the action itself; the event. I didn’t get a grant or a certain job, I had a disagreement with someone or I wasn’t selected for a role. Whatever the event is, can take the front seat. Read more>>

My favorite quote/affirmation is actually the scripture from the Bible, Jeremiah 29:11 ““’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” I love this scripture so much because when I was 16 years old and was first diagnosed with mental illness; it was the scripture given to me by one of my cousins when he commented on my Facebook status. I shared a Facebook status stating that I wanted give up. I was actually going to walk away from God altogether at that point because living with a mental health diagnosis and the inner turmoil I felt was unbearable. This has been my go to scripture every time I felt the bumps and bruises of life with my diagnosis of having Bipolar Disorder. Read more>>
