We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracie Yu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
There is so much going on in the world, a lot of negative things that can weigh heavy on people over time. Important issues absolutely but I believe that Bok Choy’s social media helps to bring a smile to a lot of peoples faces, even if it’s temporary. And I believe that helps the world by bringing something happy and positive to their lives however brief.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is my photography and video of Bok Choy. I’m not a professional by any means, anyone who has seen my post can deduce that. However, I’ve learned over time what people enjoy seeing from Bon Choy and what aspects of his life they love and I’ve curated my social media pages to that. It took a while to figure this out, a lot of trial and error.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We moved to New York a few months ago. There are endless things to do in the city. If I had a friend visiting for a week, which has happened. We would eat at all the restaurants, hit up local spots, see the sights, visit the numerous museums around the town. There’s so much to do in any given day you cannot be bored!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to shoutout my friends and family for both encouraging me to start this social media journey and for supporting me through the process. I was very hesitant to want to start an Instagram or even a TikTok for Bok Choy but they pushed me to do it, wanted me to show people Bokky’s life and his personality.
