Meet Ebony Hardy | Founder, Author, and Director of Curriculum Development

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony Hardy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ebony, how does your business help the community?
Healing not Hurting, with its focus on holistic healing and empowerment, has a profound impact on the community. By offering resources such as books, journals, and apparel, my company empowers individuals on their personal healing journeys, leading to improved mental and emotional well-being. This not only benefits the individuals directly involved but also creates a ripple effect as they share their newfound knowledge and tools with friends, family, and the wider community.
My company’s holistic approach to well-being, encompassing physical, mental, and emotional health, ensures that individuals receive comprehensive support. By addressing all aspects of wellness, Healing not Hurting helps community members achieve a state of balance, leading to healthier lifestyles and increased overall satisfaction.
Furthermore, Healing not Hurting’s initiatives, such as our “Destined to Reign” curriculum for high school freshmen, contribute to breaking the cycle of intergenerational trauma. By nurturing resilience in the next generation, we play a vital role in building a more resilient community. This, in turn, helps create a positive and supportive environment for individuals to thrive and overcome challenges.
By promoting the idea of holistic wellness as the norm, Healing not Hurting inspires community members to prioritize their well-being. This shift in mindset leads to healthier lifestyles, reduced stress levels, and improved overall quality of life. As more individuals embrace this approach, the community as a whole benefits from increased well-being and a stronger support system.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Healing not Hurting is a unique business that stands out because of our holistic approach to healing. We understand that healing encompasses more than just mental well-being, which is why we offer a range of resources including books, apparel, and journals. By addressing physical, mental, and emotional health, we provide individuals with comprehensive tools for their healing journeys.
What sets us apart is our focus on youth and the future generations. We believe that by starting the healing process early with our curriculum for high school freshmen, we can make a significant impact on the well-being of future generations. We are proud to prioritize the empowerment and resilience-building of young individuals, breaking the cycle of intergenerational trauma.
Getting to where we are today was not an easy journey. Starting with just an idea for a journal, the Healing not Hurting 31-day challenge, and a t-shirt, I had to push through fear and uncertainty. I had no blueprint or roadmap, but I knew I had to start somewhere. Overcoming challenges required perseverance, adaptability, and a willingness to learn and grow. Through hard work and dedication, we have expanded our offerings, developed a curriculum, and authored more books than I ever imagined.
The lessons learned along the way have been invaluable. I have realized the importance of taking that first step, even when it feels scary. Starting small and building momentum allowed us to grow and make a meaningful impact. I have also learned the significance of constantly adapting and evolving to meet the needs of our community. Challenges have been opportunities for growth and learning, and I am grateful for the resilience they have instilled in me.
What I want the world to know about Healing not Hurting is that we are a business driven by the mission to create a world where holistic wellness is the norm. We are passionate about empowering individuals, both young and old, to embark on their healing journeys. Our focus on holistic healing, our dedication to youth empowerment, and our commitment to continuous growth and adaptation make us a powerful force for positive change in the world. I am proud of what we have accomplished, and I am excited about the impact we will continue to make in the lives of individuals and communities.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I would take them on a culinary adventure and showcase the vibrant local scene.
First, we would start our day with breakfast at one of the local spots in the community, on the Avenue of Fashion, where we can enjoy the delicious flavors and support the community.
For lunch, I would take them to my favorite Mexican spot in Allen Park, called Tijuana’s. It may not be fancy, but the Mexican food is absolutely delicious and a must-try for anyone visiting the area. Thank me later, lol.
In the evening, we would head to Oak & Reel for a great steak dinner experience. To top off the night, we would venture into downtown Detroit to explore the vibrant nightlife scene. With the city undergoing a revitalization, there are numerous new and exciting venues to discover. Whether it’s live music, trendy bars, or unique entertainment options, downtown Detroit has something for everyone.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my bishops, Bishop Dwight and Bishop Princess of New Way Ministries in Farmington Hills, Michigan. When I joined their church in 2019, I was at my lowest point in life. Their messages of encouragement and empowerment inspired me to begin my healing journey and work towards self-improvement. Throughout the years, they have taught me invaluable lessons about success, overcoming challenges, and not allowing myself to stay stuck in difficult situations. Their teachings have emphasized the importance of taking accountability for my actions and raising the bar in all aspects of life. Above all, they have helped me realize that I have the power to be a positive change maker within my family. Even on the toughest days, their guidance and teachings have provided me with the strength and motivation to keep going. I am truly grateful for their impact on my life and the credit and recognition they deserve in my story of healing and growth.
