Hi Nakija, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
“I’ve always harbored the dream of starting my own business, but the fear of failure held me back. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic brought about lockdowns and uncertainty, something remarkable happened. My inner strength overcame that fear. It was then that I decided to take a leap of faith and book a booth at the biggest event in town: ‘Art Beats and Eats.’ I knew that once I put myself out there, I’d be too determined to let fear hold me back. This decision marked a pivotal moment in my journey, and it’s a testament to the power of resilience and unwavering determination. Embracing this opportunity, I am ready to learn, adapt, and grow, no matter the outcome. It’s not just a business venture; it’s a personal challenge that I’m eager to embrace.”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My journey with Lekker Choco Treats has been an inspiring adventure. On December 16th, I marked a significant milestone by opening our very first location in Laurel Park Mall. This endeavor demanded my unwavering dedication, as I poured 100% of my energy into making it a success. Staying motivated and consistent was no small feat, and striking a balance presented its challenges. Nevertheless, I placed my trust in both my abilities and the unfolding process.

Through this journey, I’ve gained a profound lesson in the importance of having a clear vision and the unwavering confidence to consistently work towards that vision. What makes Lekker Choco Treats unique is its emergence during the pandemic, founded on the noble idea of spreading love and comfort during one of the most difficult and stressful times. We specialize in crafting delectable chocolate-dipped strawberries, creating exquisite bouquets, and offering delightful chocolate barks, all designed to bring joy and sweetness to people’s lives.

Our commitment to making the world a happier and more comforting place is something I hold with immense pride. I continue to trust the process, and I hope that Lekker Choco Treats will not only grow but also continue to be a source of delight for many.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I would definitely invite her to experience the delight of Lekker Choco Treats, where she can savor our scrumptious creations. Afterward, we’d venture to my favorite Saturday Market in the heart of downtown Farmington, where the local culture comes to life.

To top off our day, we’d head into the bustling heart of Detroit, where all the excitement unfolds. From exploring art and culture to indulging in fine dining and entertainment, the city has so much to offer. It’s a well-rounded plan that combines the sweetness of my business with the dynamic atmosphere of the city.
