We had the good fortune of connecting with Damon Bradley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Damon, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I have always been a loud mouth. After high school i was lost, I didn’t apply to any colleges cause my grades were trash. My father said i had to do more than sit around the house, so I found Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts. They taught me how to work in a radio station and really the basics of being a personality. I feel in love with it. I tried radio for a bit, but some of the restriction weren’t for me. But i discovered podcasting years later and it felt like i found my tribe.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m one of the co owners of Shoptalk Podcast Studios in Oak Park, MI. We specialize in providing a recording space for the urban podcast community in south east Michigan. We have over 200 podcasts record in our space. The biggest challenge is just pushing forward. People decide to stop their podcasts all the time, they fall off. My partner and i have had our own personal challenges that have made podcasting difficult at times too, but we keep pushing and stay consistent. Hard work and consistency is the only recipe for success. Our brand is strong. When people see the blue and the black they know it’s quality behind it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Detroit is a dynamic city with rich history and a myriad of things to get into. I’d definitely take them to the DIA to check out some art. I feel the best food is in the heart grab some authentic Detroit style pizza from Buddy’s. Get a grilled chicken pita from L. George’s Coney Island. Take a beautiful woman downtown for dinner. Dine at Prime and Proper, or San Morello. Grab some drinks at the Godfrey or Two James. Then try my luck at the casinos, or maybe enjoy the view at the strip club to end the night. Honestly some of the strip clubs have some of the best food in the city

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout out to my deceased parents, Debra and Raymond Bradley. They always encouraged me to follow my dreams, and to find my way. No matter how crazy the things I wanted to do in life were they always supported me. I tried a lot of things and a lot of ventures. No matter if they failed or excelled they were there to support.
