Meet Aries Skye | Author and Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aries Skye and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aries, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued my artistic career because I wanted to pen the beauty in Black romance, which is my signature phrase. Writing stories that explore and celebrate love and relationships through the Black experience is a passion. As the world opens up to more of our stories, I hope to expose more readers in the mainstream audience so they can appreciate (and swoon) over them, just as we do.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a Black woman, it was important to tell stories from the Black experience. I love, love and wanted to highlight that in a way that’s authentic and relatable. We can find beauty in everyday happenings all around us. In fact, my first book, Love on the Ninth Floor is loosely based on a viral TikTok story. My second upcoming novel explores mixed-weight relationships. All of these topics are viable to today’s time and will resonate with younger and older audiences. I believe those factors make my writing stand apart.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a Georgia native, I’d definitely take them to places I love to visit but because I love new experiences, we’d visit more places that I haven’t been so my friend and I can share that moment together. Since I’m having an infatuation with outdoor events, I’d love to go glamping (glamorous camping) in Blue Ridge. The serenity and solitude would enrich my creative headspace and make for the ultimate girls getaway. We’d also check out some arts festivals and maybe watch an outdoor movie. Nothing beats soul food, so I’d surely check out some places, even if we had to travel to other cities!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to all of the Black romance authors who paved a way before me. You have inspired me, motivated me, and mentored me in ways I never could’ve imagined. I also want to thank Black Odyssey Media for the opportunity to bring my work to a traditional publisher and mainstream audience.
