We had the good fortune of connecting with CienTell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi CienTell, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose to pursue a creative career because I love to create! Music has always been a passion of mine ever since I was 8 years old. I grew up watching Michael Jackson, James Brown, Aaliyah, Destiny’s Child and I thought to myself, “I can do that too!” At the age of 18, I decided to pursue a dance career and I had the pleasure of working with Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston as dancer and actress. I worked with so many artists that I decided to pursue a singing career myself and it was the best decision I ever made!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m so fluent in the language of music that I am willing to work with anyone in the music industry. Whether it be Beyonce, Usher, Ye (formerly known as Kanye West), Jason Aldean (country artist) or The White Stripes! I’m versatile and anyone can gain wisdom from my music. I teach what needs to heard and entertain while I do it. The fact that I decided to pursue music regardless of the struggles I’ve faced in life demonstrates the influence I will have on millions of people. My music is timeless and will live on. One of the main shortcomings in my life was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022 and I was afraid of what people would think of me but now I embrace it, as well as be a testimony to others that may be facing health issues. I can do anything I set my mind to and I have done that for the past 20 years – a dancer, choreographer, singer, writer, model and whatever else I choose to be lol! I excel and I succeed in everything I put my mind to.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Detroit is my hometown baby! My favorite part is the downtown area. I love vegan food and and the best restaurants to go to are “Fire A** Vegan (located near Wayne State University) and Yum Village! The Detroit Institute of Arts is one of my favorite places to visit cause there’s always cool events and exhibits year round. Motor City Casino always has amazing concerts as well!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If it wasn’t for God sending me my husband Chris, I would have never made it this far in my music career. He always pushes me to be better, gain more knowledge of my craft and to enjoy my life so that I can be free. Also my godfather Leonard Campbell has always believed in me and has been a mentor through my music career. He taught how to produce my own music and how to be sustainable in the music business.
