We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Casmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Being creative and being able to express myself makes me happy. Ideally, using my creativity to help others feel inspired and to grow is what makes me the most happy. I’ve found that through creating content and working with brands, I am happiest when I can express myself fully. Everyone is different, and everyone has different styles of doing things, and I feel most satisfied with my work when it reflects who I am and what I feel. I also find joy in learning new techniques or trying out new skills just for fun. It’s one of my goals to try new creative tasks as well as learn new things as much as I can. it also makes me really happy to inspire others through my fitness and other content, I have received messages from multiple people saying I posted something they really needed to hear, or that my consistency at the gym urged them to get a gym membership for the first time. That is the best feeling ever, to be able to give others what I needed years ago, and to encourage others with words that I need to hear myself. Moving forward, I definitely am aiming to help other’s change their lives through fitness and creating, as well as aiming to help others with words of encouragement from my own heart.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve created a lot more this year than I ever have before, and I’ve learned a lot, too. I’m really thankful for and have enjoyed all of the experiences I’ve had from Instagram and content creation so far. It’s allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone creatively, and although sometimes I slow down, I am always working on something. I am practicing for future jobs and projects, and any way I can be creative is a good way to pass the time to me. Content creation and photography is a lot of trial and error, like many other creative tasks. But it’s always fun to come up with a new concept for a brand and see your vision come to life. That being said, I’ve been trying to make it a goal to create things out of my comfort zone, experimenting with videos and hopefully music in the future.

I’ve had a lot of fun this year experimenting with taking my own photos and videos. It’s much more difficult than you would imagine, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a lot of fun. My photos have definitely gotten better, since I’ve created so much user-generated-content for brands. I’m really happy that I’ve gotten the opportunity to experiment with creating fashion, fitness, and health content a lot this year. Creating videos for local restaurants and experiences is something I’ve been trying to do more as well, there’s so many amazing places so close by that others have no idea exist. It’s also cool to see bigger companies reaching out to collaborate, to have businesses reaching out about attending events, and to receive new experiences in exchange for content for a company. I’m currently working on a few Christmas campaigns with some more popular brands, and I’m hoping that I have the opportunity in the future to attend events or go places that will open doors for me in the content creation world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are a lot of really nice towns in Michigan. I personally love Farmington, it’s such a nice little town with so many restaurants and coffee shops. There are also a lot of parks and the downtown area is really nice. It’s fun to go to concerts on Friday nights in the summer there as well as the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. It’s just a really friendly town and I loved growing up there, and I’m so happy that it has grown so much in the past few years. My fiance and I go to 1Up Bar in Downtown Farmington when we want to play arcade games and get a drink, and we also love going to Basement Burger Bar for dinner, which is located right below 1Up. The best Mexican food in Farmington is from La Taqueria Victoria, a very small and authentic restaurant just outside of downtown Farmington. I would definitely try them! My favorite Mediterranean food is from La Marsa in Farmington, and the new Greek restaurant, KYMA Greek Grill, is delicious as well!

Downtown Detroit is definitely a must-see as well. There are so many restaurants I still want to check out, I’ve been trying to make it a priority to go there more often. Detroit has so many events happening at different places downtown all the time, and it’s not hard to find a great place to eat, either. I tried Lumen Detroit for the first time last year and loved it, and I’m going to El Barzon for the second time next month. Both places are delicious and have more unique dishes in my opinion. A great way to pass the time in Detroit is to go to the Detroit Institute of Arts, a place I would go often when I went to Wayne State. The museum is huge, with so many paintings from famous artists like Pablo Picasso and Diego Rivera. It’s really amazing to see such influential art in downtown Detroit! The museum is a must-see for any art lovers in Detroit, or even history buffs, because you can clearly see depictions of Detroit and American history throughout different works in the museum.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, my parents and my fiance, Jake, have helped me the most this past year with content creation. Whenever I need to take photos or videos, they volunteer their time to help me, even if it means taking pictures out in the cold. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to content, so I appreciate them being patient and creating content with me for however long I need help. Jake has taken some of my favorite photos of myself, and I’m really happy to expose him to the world of content creation as well. My whole family has been very supportive by engaging with my posts and wanting to learn more about what I am doing. It means a lot to me that my family expresses interest in content creation and all I do! I also appreciate my friends online and offline, as they continually support my posts and encourage me to keep creating content. It means a lot to keep receiving support from those close to me, and to receive recognition for a piece of content that I feel very proud of creating!
