Meet Kamia Ivory | Community activist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kamia Ivory and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kamia, how does your business help the community?
Love, Peace & Unity is an open mic where local artists can have a save space to express themselves through artistry. And admission for entry is canned goods, and all the canned goods are donated to gleaners. LPU brings the community together while giving back to the community through the donated canned goods.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an extremely excited for the journey that Love, Peace & Unity is on, because it is in the process to becoming so much more. Getting to where I am today took a lot of training from others and guidance. It was not always easy. But I believe through the challenges it allowed myself and everyone around me to grow. Through the difficulties, just trusting the process then and now is what gets me through any challenges I face.
I want the world to know that LPU is all about improving and supporting the community from the most genuine space.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start our morning off with my favorite brunch spot called See You Tomorrow. They have the best chicken and waffles! Once we finish eating, we will go to the best massage place I’ve ever been called hands and stones for massages and facials.
After that, we will shop at Back 2 Eden, this place is has the best natural product and wonderful customer service, the experience is like no other.
After shopping, my friends and I are kids at heart so we would go to an arcade like 1up arcade, it has great games and a delicious restaurant in the basement. Once we complete all that we will watch the starts and vibe to some vinyl records.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely want to shout out my mom (Karen. L), my older brother (Jon J), my twin brother ( Kameron), the Founder of Define Detroit (Torrey Gray), the owners of 27th letter books (Erin & Drew), Gleaners and everyone who support LPU !
