Meet Tristin Llewellyn | EMS Personal Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tristin Llewellyn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tristin, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Calluses guarantee a seat at the table.”
This quote was something a youth hockey coach kept saying to me when I was growing up. I didn’t understand how important of a statement that was going to be. The coach used to preach getting as many reps in and to continuously keep working even after we left the rink. He would always talk about no one sees the hard work just the result, so we must prepare by doing all the little things ahead in order to flow smoothly without even thinking about it.
Most people would stop the thought there. I admit I was one of those people for a long time and didn’t even acknowledge the calluses part. The older I got and the more I was around high end athletes and successful business empires, the more I started to understand why you would need to develop calluses in order to succeed. The calluses are the struggles, the failures, and the lessons you learn along the way. These are how you grow, expand, and thrive. Without these experiences you can’t find what doesn’t work, or if you have enough drive to some out on the other side.
Once I started to implement this into my thinking, I noticed I was able to relax more during stressful times. The calluses allowed me to Aretha and not panic, so I can make a decision that was strategically planned to create a habit. These habits force me to keep working, no matter how doom and gloom it may work. As an ahtlete I would find ways to continue learning away from the game and continue training in any little capacity I could.
As a business owner I have had to build the calluses in a lot of new forms. Being told “no” always drove me to find a way to make it work, but I didn’t know how much worse as a business owner it was, even though you were able to answer all their questions. This motto made me rethink on how I could convert these no into yes, which became results based and not talk. The average person in the fitness industry want immediate results with as little effort as possible and the industry responds with all kinds of snake oil concoctions. Having to fight these ideas is not the easiest challenge, but well worth the ride in order to give our clients the best possible experience, while being safe.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a personal training service that uses electricity to activate more muscle fibers than you can naturally. Our system is a less time consuming workout that will show results. We are excited to introduce Electro Muscle Stimulation to Michigan as the first EMS training service in the area. It has been a revolutionary advancement in the fitness industry that is sweeping the world. On top of the other amazing things I can show, it has helped many people in my circle get rid of aches and pains including back pain. We started with mobile services only and branched off to a location in Royal Oak. The idea of implementation of EMS to workouts is so new to Michigan, that we have had to disband all kinds of myths and beliefs, while also keeping people’s imagination in reality of there is no such thing as a miracle cure. Through this journey we have learned simple truths are the best ones and results speak louder than anything else. We would all love to have results show immediately and to be able to treat the body like an amusement park, but the majority of people don’t have that luxury, so we preach consistency in order to see amazing results, as we have shown consistently.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start with a nice pizza dinner at our place provided by Green Lantern Pizza. The next morning We would stop by Monarch ‘s off of 11 mile road on our way from a workout at our L4 EMS studio to either the Detroit Zoo or Eastern Market in Detroit. After an early afternoon lunch at Como’s in Ferndale, we would get ready at the house for a hopeful sporting event at Little Caesars or get ready for a nice dinner at home and ending up in downtown Royal Oak for a little bar hopping and Little bro’s sliders. The next morning we would grab a couple pastries from Crispelli’s on our way to a day of shopping at Somerset mall in Troy.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My lovely wife, Melanie. She not only drove our company when I was becoming over swamped in work or overwhelmed, she was the one who was able to keep the lid on our roof while moving into our new location. She is more than I could have asked for. Her tireless work in helping bring in clients and experiment with our equipment, even in the long winter darkness. My family has been supportive to the point of being clients even though we were going through some growing pains.
