What They Know and We Don’t

We asked insiders and experts from various industries to tell us something they think outsiders are unaware of and we’ve shared a few of those responses below.
When it comes to the spa and beauty industry authenticity is important. This is a growing industry with new and upcoming brands every week or even everyday. Furthermore these brands are coming in and are not staying long term because they are lacking this fundamental part of their brand. Your clients can tell if you got into this industry for the money or because you have a passion for it. Clients can tell by the way you represent your brand, they can tell by your customer service. People looking from the outside see this luxury business that is generating a lot of profit but don’t understand what it took to get here and get their customers to see their authenticity and genuineness. The most difficult thing about the world of content creation is always having to keep up with trends and new ways of editing content and showcasing products. Unfortunately, social networks have created trends that do not last for a few years but, very often, last about a month or little more. Another difficult thing is having to combine personal commitments, study and work with content creation.
This is because social media is not my main job. Read more>>
When most people hear the word alpaca, they think cute and quirky. But alpacas are so much more. They are easy on the earth and very efficient grazers, so they are eco-friendly. Their fiber is three times warmer than sheep’s wool, hypoallergenic, soft like cashmere, breathable, and naturally wicks away moisture. Alpaca fiber is used to make amazing products that last for years and years. Read more>>
There is so much behind the scenes work that goes into the embroidery and screen printing process! Since the vinyl cutting machines are so easily accessible and many people have them, it seems as though many people don’t understand the legwork that goes into the work that we do. With every new embroidery project, the design has to be digitized. Once that process is done, we can re-use that same file over and over again. Without that file, though, our embroidery machines can’t do their amazing work! With digitizing comes a whole information sheet about the stitch count, which thread colors to use (did you also know that there are THOUSANDS of thread types and colors?!), and which order those colors will stitch out in. With every new screen printing project, we have to separate the layers of colors into print-ready files (we REALLY love it when our customers have this done for us already!). We print an all black image of each color onto a transparency “film,” have the correct size screen coated AND dried with emulsion, line the film up on the screen for accurate print placement. Then, we expose the screen with an LED exposure unit (exposure times vary too!), wash the screen out (to perfection- making sure every single detail comes out of the emulsion… all while maintaining a red light safe area!), and wait for that to dry. Once that screen is dry, we can set it up on the press, lined up with the appropriate platen, making sure to center and level the whole print. And honestly, that’s just the half of it. It really is quite the delicate process! Read more>>
The current culture talks a lot about diversity, equity, and inclusion, but still excludes those with disabilities. Inclusion is to be included in life. Most individuals participating in One Day Niche can not drive or transport themselves. Yet, there are very few options for transportation and allowing them to be included in the community. Some say, that there is public transportation, but if you can’t navigate on your own or if it does not service your community, it does little to no good. Read more>>
In a museum or a gallery, when the viewer looks open the art displayed, they are only seeing the final resolution of a long, creative journey. The history of all the attempts to resolve, repaint, or recreate the work are not apparent. The romanic view of the artist is one of dashing off the work in a fit of passion, fed by the inherent talent of the artist. The reality is that even the most talented will have failures, misguided concepts and work that is never seen by the public. A work of art is a culmination of the artist’s life experiences, trial and error, pushing through obstacles and attempting new concepts. The result one sees in a museum is the polished diamond of that effort. Read more>>
