Meet Allison Wong | Business Manager & Graphic Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Wong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
A Customer-Focused Approach sets us apart from other local sign companies. Although most companies want to provide an expert experience for each customer- we succeed when we work together with our customer to provide the best options for each individual situation. This customer-centric approach builds trust and loyalty.
We work hard to effectively communicate complex concepts in a way that is easily understandable to customers using visuals and descriptions. It helps bridge the gap between our industry expertise and the customer’s understanding. A focus on creating solutions for customers demonstrates a proactive and problem-solving mindset. This can set your business apart in terms of customer satisfaction.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a dedicated professional with a passion for business management and graphic design, I’ve built a rewarding career at Signs616, where I currently serve as the business manager and graphic designer. My journey began with a commitment to education, earning a bachelor’s degree that laid the foundation for my subsequent endeavors. Post-college, I immersed myself in customer service, recognizing its pivotal role in fostering strong client relationships. Committed to continuous learning, I pursued additional education in graphic design, equipping myself with the skills needed to enhance the visual aspects of our business and customers’ projects. Over time, I transitioned into a dual role, seamlessly blending my design expertise with strategic business management. What I’m most proud of is the opportunity to support fellow small businesses and contribute to the growth of our West Michigan community. I’ve worked tirelessly to understand every facet of the sign business, constantly seeking ways to optimize operations, increase profitability, and, above all, provide our customers with unparalleled solutions that meet their unique needs. Embarking on the journey of building a successful sign rental business has been a profound learning experience, marked by valuable lessons in multitasking and comprehensive business management. Navigating the complexities of running a small business has taught me the art of wearing multiple hats, from overseeing marketing initiatives to handling financial intricacies and ensuring seamless day-to-day operations. Multitasking has become a fundamental skill, allowing me to efficiently manage various aspects simultaneously. The key lesson learned is the importance of adaptability; in a fast-paced industry, flexibility in approach is vital. Success in the sign rental business isn’t solely about delivering quality products but also about adeptly juggling the myriad responsibilities inherent in entrepreneurship. It’s an ongoing journey of refinement and resilience, where each challenge encountered contributes to a deeper understanding of the intricate dance required to build and sustain a successful business.
With over two decades of dedicated service, our business stands as the original portable sign company in Michigan, proudly focused on longevity, experience, and a commitment to excellence. Beyond being pioneers in the industry, our journey has led us to expand our offerings, providing a diverse range of services to cater to the evolving needs of our valued customers. As a very small business, we take pride in our roots and the close-knit community that has supported us throughout the years. We are more than just a sign company; we are a symbol of resilience, community support, and a promise to continue delivering the best experiences possible to those we serve.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Grand Rapids, MI and love sharing my city with friends and family that are not familiar with the area. I would recommend anyone visiting should come during Artprize and/or Winterfest where the city turns into a large art gallery. Most restuarants and businesses in the city open their doors to artists and the city floods with interested people to create deeper connections between artists and the public. I also will recommend Frederik Meijer Gardens as it is a beautiful area to explore and if you’re able to snag tickets to a concert at their ampitheatre, it is always one of the best places to be during their summer concert series. We have a great Zoo. Tons of sports, concerts, shows, plays, and musicals downtown at Van Andel arena or Devos performance hall. Some of the best places to get food include Butchers Union, Donkey, SpeakEZ, Mitten Brewing, but are truly just scratching the surface on excellent places to eat. As “Beer City”- Grand Rapids is not short on places to wander around for a drink. The endless options of which breweries to experience will keep any consumer quite occupied.
