Meet Alexandria Daniels | Jewelry Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria Daniels and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandria, why did you pursue a creative career?
Pursuing art as a career actually began as a hobby for me, so I think of it as a very happy accident. Once I shifted over into business mode, I realized that embarking on a creative career path meant that I could do what I loved every day. It meant that the possibilities would be endless because I essentially create them for myself. It meant freedom of expression and connection with the community. All of which seemed too beautiful to pass up.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is truly a piece of my heart. When I create I feel free, I feel happy, I feel at peace. This is the energy I put into my jewelry and that essence alone sets it apart.
While this journey has not been easy, I’m really proud of myself for not allowing obstacles or fear of the unknown to deter me from pursuing art. I’ve learned the best way to overcome challenges is to focus on the now. Take things day by day and the answers to the problems will be revealed.
I want the world to know that my art is meant to inspire joy and encourage authentic self expression.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Okay so I’m not much of a planner, so I’d probably take them to explore downtown Ann Arbor and just go with the flow. There’s so many gems downtown like cozy coffee shops, bookstores, boutiques, restaurants, museums – you can’t go wrong!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a tough one! There are several local artists, more than I can name, that have provided such support and camaraderie which makes this journey feel much less lonely and daunting. The community especially in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and Plymouth have been essential to my growth. A major shoutout to Gutman Gallery, the Ann Arbor Art Center and the many local businesses that provide so many resources and opportunities for local artists.
