Meet Stephanie Linden | Professional fine artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Linden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think that the most important factor behind my success is my unique style. I think that is true for all successful brands. I have a unique color sense and use of light that I feel sets my art apart. Those are the things that excite me about painting. I feel that my excitement and joy comes through in my process and captures the viewers attention. Another contributing factor is my work ethic. I have been working very hard to pursue my art professionally, rather than just enjoy it as a hobby.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am very proud of the fact that I was able to build my art career while still practicing medicine full-time. Painting has always been my solace, even more so during Covid. I used the extra free time during the lockdown to begin to develop my art into what it is today. I said goals for myself as far as the number of hours I spent a week painting. I was already feeling very burnt out by my medical career and Covid made that even worse. I knew I needed a change. I figured out what I would need to do turn my art into a profession. I negotiated with my hospital to go part time at that point and began the transition to painting full-time. I am proud to say that I left my practice in September 2023 and I’m selling more paintings than ever.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Part of my transition has been our move to Sarasota Florida. I am inspired daily by the beautiful scenery, the wildlife and the wonderful climate which allows me to be outdoors whenever possible. My favorite places to see and photograph wildlife for reference photos are Celery Fields and Myakka River State Park. No visit to Sarasota is complete without a visit to Siesta Key Beach, one of the best beaches in the country. One of my reasons for moving to Sarasota is that it has a very vibrant art scene. The Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College is a great contemporary art museum. No trip is complete without good food and drink, Café Barbosso in Sarasota has both, with a great art collection on the walls and occasional live painting demonstrations and frequent live music.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can’t think the Milan Art Institute enough for their contributions to my art, education, and my professional development.
