We had the good fortune of connecting with Blight Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blight, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to make my Conscious Art wearable, so the first Tshirt design was born. I didn’t want to be just any other Brand that slaps their logo, or some meaningless image onto clothes. I wanted it to reflect everyone from all walks of life. Provocative designs that highlight Duality. Something that hits the soul to those walking down the spiritual path. Calling on those who may be feeling lost or found. Something that can bring common ground and raise higher consciousness in all of us.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most excited for the future things to come. I dedicate my life to creating because it’s what I truly love to do. The fact that it’s received and appreciated by so many is definitely a blessing I am grateful for. But it wasn’t always like this, I’ve had more jobs than anyone I know. For years I worked jobs I hated because that’s what most of us have to do. Over the years I have completely broken out of that mentality, and have freed myself from any bounds or resistance of knowing I can work for myself. My Brand emerged during Covid unlike many other people that were closing their doors and minds about business. I worked my way into many local events, festivals and eventually local shops that carry my Brand. If you love anything enough it’s bound to grow. I am open to change and always evolving as a whole. I want my Brand to inspire others like others have inspired me in the days where I couldn’t even finish a painting. There will be days for rest, it is vital, but remain consistent at what you love and enjoy the fruit.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well hopefully they’re coming in September, that month is filled to that rim with things to do. Dally in the Alley is a huge annual event in Detroit that cast pro from all over the planet to come out and experience. For the past 2 years I’ve been a vendor. We would eat at Bob cat Bonnie’s, Pie sci Pizza, SW food trucks, Dulys Coney. We would drink and hang at Spotlite, Tangent Gallery, Fantazma Market, Garden bowl and so many other places because Detroit doesn’t sleep.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to Shout out My Gramma, Linda, one of the most influential humans I’ve ever been blessed to experience in my life. I hope you’re proud. I carry you with me everywhere I go.
