Meet Jazmyn Bradford | Social Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmyn Bradford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmyn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a service agency that would allow community leaders (i.e. small business owners, nonprofit executives) to Focus On Their Genius behind community-based organizations. The tedious tasks in building and sustaining an operable organization can take away from the time leaders would like to work withIN the organization. Therefore, my team provides timely and quality deliverables that allow them to continue advancing their organization’s mission and/or vision.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My professional background is in social work! I have a BSW from Michigan State University and MSW from University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), which has helped me to discover my passion for mentorship and finding solutions that will lead to greater successes for community.
I’ve always know that I wanted to work in the nonprofit field, but once it became time to have hands-on experience, I immediately recognized the high levels of burnout experienced by most nonprofit teams. In trying to meet the high demands of community, nonprofit usually serve with “small but mighty” teams leading to burnout. I didn’t want this to be my fate as well, so I brainstormed on ways I could better serve these communities- which lead to me creating a virtual assisant business that serves community leaders.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a good friend came to Detroit, I would take them to TJ’s Coney Island and explore the Motor City casinos. We could walk downtown Detroit to see what new, exciting restaurants have opened up too! There’s always a new small business opening up around the area to support.
We’d get some tickets from one of the nearest museums- whether it’s the Detroit Institute of Arts, Charles H. Wright Museum or The Motown Museum. The Detroit history is endless!
Exploring the mountain side of Michigan would be nice too! We could take a trip up north for a quick cain trip or even go all the way up to Mackinaw Island!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have two contractors – Dantè Booker & Kennedy Walters, which have been friends since our undergraduate college days as we served on various student organization e-boards. They have been able to provide great support in elevating the mission of J.B. The Resource Agency. We are building a foundation for the company that will make a lasting impact. I couldn’t do it with anyone else!
TeQuion of TeQuionBrookins LLC, which is a service based company for community based organizations, has served as an instrumental mentor throughout our development since launching in March 2022. She has provided partnership and referral opportunities leading to increased brand awareness within the Detroit, MI community.
