We had the good fortune of connecting with Loui$ Automatic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Loui$, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I love the idea of controlling your own destiny. I saw other artists from the culture own their own record labels as well as brands and that’s what drove me. It was definitely more of a spirit than any formal education that drew me to business.I wanted to do something that represented me. I had to learn the business along the way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It definitely wasn’t easy. Paid-Da-Co$t, ENT is more than a company. It’s a brand that represents the attitude of urban blue collar Americans all around the board regardless of race creed or color. Where I’m from everybody feels like they “Paid Da Cost” in some aspect so the challenge was making it through that journey. It’s not easy but me still standing is the win and moving on through any and all adversities is the hustlers spirit that my brand represents.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely gotta take em to a Coney Island to get that authentic Detroit experience, from a food experience anyway. I’d definitely introduce them to the night life in Greektown and Downtown in general. Maybe we’ll slide in a casino and stroll through Belle Isle. And last but not least we definitely gotta ride down 7 mile.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely my family, particularly my mother and father. Without my parents I wouldn’t be the man I am today. I definitely have to shout out the city of Detroit and my hood 7 Mile. My city taught me so much I don’t have enough time.
