We had the good fortune of connecting with Greg Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Greg, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Working a 40 plus hour a week job while doing photography full time on the side has had it’s ups & downs. I’ve learned to set a better schedule for myself to allow balance in my everyday life. It definitely keeps me motivated & on the go but there are those days when I just want to take the day to myself & just kickback & relax. I love the path that photography has taken me down & I plan to continue rolling with it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Growing up during a time when there was no photoshop, lightroom, AI technology & etc. has set a certain standard for me. I grew up watching my father shoot photos using 35mm film & shooting natural light & flash photography. I didn’t take photography seriously until the digital dslr Era came around. I do use photoshop to an extent but I prefer to leave my images with a natural feel.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Muskegon is definitely a tourist attraction for its lakeshore view so we would head to Pere Marquette beach first. The Deck restaurant is located on the beach as well so we would grab a bit to eat there. The following days we would checkout several other beach locations around the city & some of the other new restaurant & bar establishments.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We have all heard the saying…There is no “I” in team! This plays a big part in the name of my photography company TEAM Kaw-Boi Photography LLC,. Without crossing paths with strangers that have become dedicated models & clients to the company. As well as friends who have supported & complimented me along the way. These are the type of actions that push me to keep on my journey!
