We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Saleh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success has definitely been the relationships that I have built with my clients. It’s become very clear to me that taking care of my clients is at the heart of my business. When I am embarking on a new project with a client, I always let them know that we are partners on this journey and that I will treat their remodel or renovation as if it were my own. Keep in mind that some people have never worked with an Interior Designer before and they may be nervous about the process, so it’s important to set and manage the proper expectations from the beginning, so that they know what to expect and feel comfortable. At the end of the day, clients just want to know that you have their back and that they are in good hands.

The most important factor behind the success of my brand has been staying true to my style. I have many clients that come to me seeking that specific modern organic design, which is my signature style. On the other hand, those cIients that are unsure of what they are looking for, I always encourage them to check out my portfolio, as they will start to see a certain aesthetic emerge, and I want to ensure that they are comfortable, in order to stay true to my brand.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Mavella Home started as a passion and a dream in my mind. Fast forward almost six years and I’m excited to say that I have serviced almost 50 clients and worked on countless projects. I am most proud of the genuine relationships that I have built with my clients, along with a thriving business that has grown on word of mouth and referrals alone. Getting to this point has required a lot of hard work, patience, and hustle, but when you are doing what you love, it makes it all worthwhile.

Having said that, there have definitely been challenges along the way. I’m a first-time entrepreneur, so just learning about the business and all of the processes has been overwhelming at times. I had to navigate my way through all of the uncertainty. It was, and continues to be, a lot of hard work and I don’t believe I will ever stop learning in this industry.

The greatest lesson that I’ve learned this past year is that as a business owner, you are continuously reinventing yourself because you are constantly evolving, and it’s okay to revamp your business and services because you want your brand to reflect that evolution. Sometimes it requires a mindset shift, but at the end of the day, it’s your business and you have to run it the best way you see fit.

I want the Mavella Home brand to reflect outstanding customer service with a signature style design. My mission is to elevate your home to its fullest potential.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was coming to town, I would definitely take her downtown Detroit. The city has come a long way and has such a great vibe. We would visit the DIA for sure and eat at one of my favorite spots, which is Kresge Court. There’s something about the ambience of that space, coupled with being surrounded by art, that makes it feel very special. Afterwards, we would visit the Shinola store, and end up at Cannelle, for some unbelievable French pastries.

I would take her shopping at Somerset Mall in Troy and grab a bite to eat at The Capital Grille. We’d also grab a coffee and go for a stroll and more shopping in downtown Birmingham.

Lastly, I’d take her for cocktails at Saint 1881 and then for a stroll in downtown Rochester.

Michigan is a great place and has so much to offer!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to take a moment to give a shoutout to my business coach and mentor, Claire Jefford. When I started my business almost six years ago, I hit the ground running, and didn’t have the adequate time to spend on the business side of Mavella Home. Claire helped me to set the proper foundation for my business, as well as the right mindset to achieve further success. Since working with Claire, many aspects of my business have improved, and I am so thankful for her mentorship, support, and generosity of spirit.
