We had the good fortune of connecting with Lona Czerwinski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lona, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks are so important to take in life! Because it really is a matter of belief; belief in yourself to follow your dreams and live your life. One of the first risks I took was leaving a fortune 500 company to travel. My risk was leaving a steady job to a world of unknown. During this time there was a lot of healing, and learning about myself. I never would be who I am today without making and acting on this decision.

Another risk I took was leaving my corporate job to go full time with my side-hustle of being a Virtual Assistant (VA). I’ve learned so much about myself, grown, and have been able to scale my business since leaving. It has been an incredible journey so far and I’m grateful for taking a chance on myself.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
While I was at my last corporate job, I knew that this role was no longer for me; corporate was no longer for me. However, I recognized there were aspects of my job that I really enjoyed and challenged me. So I set off on a path of finding a career that felt more aligned with my passions, my skills, and the life I wanted to live. After doing numerous interviews for a variety of positions, an old colleague of mine was hosting a workshop on what a Virtual Assistant (VA) is and what they do. This was my lightbulb moment! I then started my journey of becoming a VA.

I invested in courses, worked with coaches, participated in workshops, and worked alongside other VA’s to really learn as much as I could about this career. I knew this was for me!

During that time, I also started taking steps on improving my mental and physical health. I worked with life coaches, therapists, and a fitness coach to support me. I know how much they have all helped me and others, so I knew then that I wanted to work with health and wellness providers and support them. Since then I have been working with healthpreneurs as a VA, Tech VA, and a Canva designer.

It hasn’t been an easy journey but I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Learning a lot of different skills, what it actually takes to run a business, imposter syndrome, etc. It can be a lot! I’ve learned to lean on others, start creating a community of likeminded people/other entrepreneurs, and never give up!

I’ve met and worked with so many amazing people with incredible passions! I can’t wait to see where this all takes me!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Michigan is an incredibly beautiful place, especially in the summer time. There are so many fun things to do and places to explore, but I always recommend going to nature. Michigan has SO many lakes, and if it’s a beautiful day, you can guarantee I’m someplace near the water! Not only are the great lakes a sight to see, but there are so many smaller lakes in the mitten itself. Find yourself a beach or go kayaking! You won’t be disappointed!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m so grateful for everyone who has supported me so far in this journey! I’ve worked with life, fitness, and business coaches who have given me so much insight, guidance, and encouragement throughout my time as an entrepreneur. I cannot thank them enough!

My partner Aaron has been one of my biggest supports as well! Without him I wouldn’t be able to do what I love every day!
