Meet David Campbell | Mental health advocate, content creator, motivational speaker & artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with David Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Canada. Growing up I had many struggles. I was diagnosed with ADHD and OCD and battled depression. Through it all, I was never on any medication. The doctors told me I would never get better. Fortunately, I found God and dedicated my life to Him. After finding God, I was determined to overcome my struggles. Through endurance and strength, I overcame every mental struggle with God’s help. He healed me. I have dedicated my life to show the mentally ill, the broken hearted, and the emotionally damaged that they can be healed. My goal is to convey to the mentally ill that they are more than what the psychiatrist labels them as. They are overcomers. They can overcome any situation or illness as long as they believe they can and persevere. I am a living testimony of a miracle. My life is an example of what it’s like to suffer through mental struggles and be healed. I know my story can inspire the lives of many worldwide. This is my mission as a mental health advocate, content creator, motivational speaker, and artist. All the work that I do is dedicated to this mission.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As previously mentioned, I’m a content creator, motivational speaker, and an artist. Most of my content and artwork promotes mental health and healing. Since I have been through my own mental struggles and have overcome them, my aim is to show others that there is healing. My brand is called “The Hope Of Healing”. I started this brand to help others understand that they can be healed mentally and emotionally just like I was. My mission is to spread hope to the world and to help those in need. Through my journey, I have seen how powerful faith can be. Through faith in God all things are possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favourite spots in my city are found in the downtown core. There are always events taking place downtown. For example, every year they have fireworks, rides and games. For breakfast, I love going to a restaurant called “Toast” to eat their famous chicken and waffles. I also enjoy eating at “The Fourteen”. The food is delicious and the view of the city is spectacular.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother was a big support to me throughout my struggles. She was there for me in every moment and through every circumstance. Life was difficult for me. No one understood me. At school, I was teased by teachers, abused by friends, rejected by peers and even family, but my mom was always by my side. She consistently prayed for my healing and God kept His promise and healed me. No matter what I did or how bad things got with me, she was always there for me. It is because of her devotion that I know what unconditional love looks like.
I also give thanks to my therapist at the time. In my heart, she was more than just a therapist. She was like family, and she actually genuinely cared for me. For four years, she never gave up and took the time to understand me and help me to her best ability. She did more than the average therapist would ever do.
My girlfriend at the time was one of my biggest supports. She knew my situation and problem and still loved me and stayed with me throughout the struggles. She never judged me, but loved me as I was. She tried her best to help me no matter what. When I wasn’t able to help myself due to mental health struggles, she was there for me. She did more than the average girlfriend would do.
