Meet Jamika Steen | Jay’zo

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay’zo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jay’zo, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always loved cooking and being able to bring joy to friends and family when cooking for them. It was always amazing to me. I decided to branch out that joy and start selling food for others and also record me making food for the ones that were not close enough to try it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The passion I have for food is endless. Food is art, to be apart of that has always excited me to be better as a cook. I love challenging myself in the kitchen. I started off selling plates which was not easy since I was a one man’s army doing it alone but I still enjoyed it and decided to start recording content of me cooking and that has been amazing all by itself. I have reached over 10 million views across all my platforms since. Worked with some huge brands Gained supporters from all over. Being consistent can be very challenging and overwhelming but learning to take small breaks when necessary and remembering the bigger picture always get me back on track and of course the love from my supporters. I’ve learned how hard work has no other option but to give you your desired results. Now being able to help other businesses with my platform is a new form of blessing I’m amazed to be able to share. I want people to know that anything you put your mind into you will succeed at and know your worth in any industry work your in.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I do a lot of food reviews for some great places in metro Detroit. I recently went to a food truck with another great influencer “Detroit Dar” at bigg bites and those are the best tacos and nachos I’ve had!. A few months ago I did a review on a place called peepos in Canton,MI It will always be a personal favorite and I always recommend my family and friends there. Peepos have amazing food and the vibe there is unmatched. I love their Afrikano fries, so Ouey gooey good! The chef make you feel at home and it’s always a fun go to place. Also a place called the smackn in Redford. Their food is so amazing, best wings.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be the woman Iam today in business without the knowledge from my father and the mentorship as an entrepreneur from my coach, the amazing support from my supporters on all of my platforms.
