We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Ewing and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life balance has changed drastically over time . I am a Mother , works full time and running a business. When I first started Ariss’ Piecez it was a little easier my daughter was only 1 so I was able to have more freedom to dedicate putting in at least 5 to 8 hours into my business. Now she is 5 and is in Kindergarten. When I get home from work I give her at least 1 hour of my undivided attention we go over school work etc. Dinner is cooked, bath and bed. My daughter also takes Ballet/Tap and Gymnastics so my weekends are also dedicated to her. If I can stop working full time and pour into my business as needed I know it will flourish even more . Having a work life balance and running a business is the most important thing to managing your own company .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my career in health field I am from Grand Rapids MI moved to Detroit MI when I graduated High school in 2007. I attended Wayne State University but I was not as focus as I needed. Comjng from a conservative city to a coty i can relate to it was a differebt eorld for me. I moved to Detroit permanently went to a community College obtain associates in health administration. I worked at urgent care centers, hospitals and in labs. However ever my life took a turn into financial the setting. I am now working for a credit union as a Debit card specialist working remotely which helps my work life balance.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My friends and family often come to the city as we call it “Detroit” to hang out. We would go downtown to check out the casinos , river walk and there is usually a festival or event at hart plaza. From there we would do some self care and hit up the D.tour spa inside motor city casino. Detroit has tons of earing places for soul food we eat at Southern Fire restaurant. Upscale restaurants we would go to Prime + Proper. Despite the thousands of boutiques Detroit has. A fun shopping day would be would be at Summer set or great lakes crossing mall. We would stay at the Atheneum Suite hotel or the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance center. For fun going to a Lions games or taking a ballroom class. There so many fun activities and events happening daily in Detroit. A really fun place for family and friends

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to first shoutout my daughter Ariss’ who I’ve named my company after. If it wasn’t for me having a girl, and dressing her up I would have never started a boutique . Secondly, I want to give a shoutout to my family and a few friends that have truly supported my business from the beginning. Sharing, liking, supporting not asking for discounts. Treating my business like any other business. Word of mouth recommending us to potential new customers. Lastly , I want to shoutout my Fiancé Martell who is also Ariss’ dad. He have created literally everything for Ariss’ piecez. From our logo, business cards, flyers our website. He comes to alll our pop up events, he is the security, protector and very much involved. He has his own graphic design business. Magick creation print graphic and designs
