We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christian, why did you pursue a creative career?
I choose it because I like the feeling I get when I paint. I feel free, its like I’m in my own world. It also allows me to explore different areas or art.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an artist I love to use lots of colors and silhouettes with African influence. I’m only 17 so this is only the beginning for me. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s not, but I never give up. Art comes in many forms and I’m excited to try them all.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would introduce them to some of my friends from school. We would go to Dave & Busters and then eat at Red Robin. Maybe teen night at the DIA. My new hobby is rolling skating so maybe we could do that… The Riverwalk.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My art teacher Ms.B is very kind and supportive. Also my friend Kaitlynn is always very encouraging of my art not to mention we have a lot of things in common.
