We had the good fortune of connecting with Brook Thayer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brook, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As a makeup artist, my work-life balance has really changed over time. I used to think that working every single day was the key to success, and while hard work is important for building a clientele, I’ve learned to set boundaries.

With weddings on the weekends, my weekdays are much more manageable. I make sure to take days off to spend time with my husband and kid. Now, I only work a couple of days during the week for small events, trials, and content creation. This shift has helped me enjoy my family more while still thriving in my career. It’s all about finding that balance!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a makeup artist, I focus on enhancing individuality through beauty. What sets me apart is my ability to be versatile. Working on a diverse clientele as well as being able to do a natural, soft, and full glam! I’m proud of empowering clients and seeing their joy during transformations. Collaborating with other artists has also fueled my creativity.
I started with a passion for hair and when I went to Cosmetology school I realized how much I loved makeup.
I overcame challenges through continuous learning, seeking mentorship, and networking. Resilience was key to navigating the industry’s ups and downs. I learned the importance of authenticity and adaptability. Staying true to my vision has helped me connect with clients who resonate with my style. I want the world to view makeup as a transformative art form that celebrates individuality. My brand embraces inclusivity and creativity, inviting everyone to express themselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m not too much into big city places and love being in smaller towns. I love Frankenmuth and all that it has to offer for friends and family. There’s always activities going on. They have Oktoberfest and you get to just drink and hangout with friends. Watching people do karaoke is always a good time to me, and going around on the pedal trolley is awesome! There is also some great coffee shops and places to eat like Prost & honey b’s! The shopping is always so fun too!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends deserve some recognition when it comes to where I’m at today. By watching my daughter when needed, always recommending and sharing my work, and consistently encouraging me!
