We had the good fortune of connecting with Dionne Webster-cox and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dionne, what do you attribute your success to?
My success and the success of Webster Law Office can be attributed to my dedication to empathy-based advocacy and inclusive leadership values at the core of what I stand for in my professional journey. I firmly believe that achieving victories goes beyond mere case wins. It involves building genuine connections with clients by truly grasping their individual requirements and offering personalized compassionate support during their toughest moments. This client centric approach has positioned me as not a lawyer but also as someone trusted for going above and beyond, for those I serve. “I hope others see me as a counselor and a strong supporter of fairness.”
Moreover, to stand out in the field is the way I approach leadership. I aim to create a workplace that appreciates diversity promotes development and assists all members of the Webster Law Office team specially those, with unique requirements. This inclusive and empowering environment does not bolster the internal structure of my firm but also elevates the level of service offered to clients. By emphasizing empathy, honesty and community involvement I am establishing a brand that is not just admired but also highly relied upon. The Webster Law Office stands out in the industry due to its legal expertise combined with a focus.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Webster Law Office was formed 17 years ago. Our practice areas are civil rights, whistleblower claims, criminal and personal injury. I am passionate about civil rights cases because they align with my core values of justice, equality, and advocacy for the underserved. I believe that everyone deserves fair treatment under the law, and civil rights cases provide me with the opportunity to stand up against injustices that disproportionately affect marginalized communities. For me, these cases are not just legal battles; they are personal missions to uphold the dignity and rights of individuals who might otherwise be overlooked or silenced. I find fulfillment in using my legal skills to challenge systemic inequalities and to fight for meaningful change. My dedication to civil rights is driven by a profound commitment to making a difference in the lives of those who face discrimination, whether it’s in the workplace, education, or other aspects of daily life. I see these cases as a powerful way to give a voice to the voiceless and to contribute to a more just and equitable society.
Through my work, I not only seek legal victories but also strives to inspire hope and empower individuals to stand up for their rights. This passion for civil rights fuels my drive, hopefully making me a fierce advocate and a true champion for justice. What distinguishes me from other attorneys in Detroit is my unique combination of legal expertise, compassionate advocacy, and inclusive leadership. What truly sets me apart is my holistic approach to practicing law—I don’t just focus on the legal aspects of my cases but also prioritizes the human element, deeply understanding the personal impact my work has on her clients’ lives. I have an empathetic nature, taking the time to listen, connect, and tailor legal strategies to the specific needs of everyone I represent.
Moreover, my commitment to inclusivity and mentorship within my practice is
exceptional. I foster an environment that supports the growth and development of all team members, including those with special needs, demonstrating a level of care and leadership that goes beyond the courtroom. My dedication to mentoring others and promoting mental discipline as a path to personal and professional greatness not only strengthens her team but also creates a supportive and empowering atmosphere for everyone involved.
My deep passion for civil rights and social justice further sets me apart. I am not afraid to take on challenging cases that seek to address systemic injustices, and I consistently advocates for those who may not have the resources to stand up for themselves. My commitment to fighting for the rights of marginalized communities, combined with my strategic legal acumen, makes me a formidable force in the legal community.
In a city as diverse and dynamic as Detroit, the blend of my empathy, expertise, and a relentless pursuit of justice makes me a standout attorney who not only serves my clients with excellence but also strives to make a broader impact on the community. What I am genuinely excited about is taking on new cases, new clients and embracing the challenges that come with them. I thrive on the dynamic nature of practicing law, viewing each case as an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact. I have a passion for my work, matched by my unwavering positive mindset. I approach every challenge with optimism and resilience, believing that with the right attitude and dedication, there is always a path to success. My enthusiasm for the legal profession is not just about the victories in the courtroom—it’s about the journey, the problem-solving, and the chance to advocate for my clients with integrity and compassion. My love for practicing law and my commitment to maintaining a positive outlook sets me apart, driving me to deliver exceptional service and inspiring those around me every step of the way.One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced was overcoming the fear of financial instability. I remember a time when I returned from Italy in 1991, feeling broke and unsure of my next steps. But I realized that I had never truly been without, and my faith in God and the universe has always provided for me. This realization—that God is my source—has been a guiding light in my life. It’s given me the strength to keep moving forward, knowing that I am always taken care of, even in the most uncertain times.
I want the world to know that with persistence and determination, even the most ordinary person can achieve extraordinary things. My story is one of self-reliance, unwavering faith, and the drive to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting my area, I’d want to make sure they had an unforgettable
experience that reflects my love for wellness, great food, and global adventures. We’d start the day bright and early with a Capoeira class, which is a blend of martial arts, dance, and acrobatics—perfect for getting the energy flowing. After that invigorating start, I’d take them to a float session at a local float therapy center on Orchard Lake Road, in West Bloomfield, MI where we could relax and rejuvenate in saltwater float tanks. It’s a unique way to de-stress, and it’s something different to experience.
After freshening up at the facility’s showers, we’d head out for a delicious dinner. Since we’d be in Farmington Hills or West Bloomfield by then, I’d likely take them to J. Alexander’s for a fantastic meal, great people and a cozy atmosphere. But if we were to explore different tastes, I have a few favorite spots in the Detroit metro area: for Jamaican, I’d suggest Caribbean Kitchen; for authentic Chinese, Empire Dynasty on 9 Mile and Middlebelt is my go-to; and for some soul food, Mookie’s on Greenfield between 10 and 11 Mile Road in Oak Park serves up some of the best soul food. For corned beef, The Bread Basket Deli next to Mookie’s is a must-try, especially since it’s the original location.
When it comes to seafood, Hazel’s in Birmingham is a delightful spot that I really enjoy. It’s perfect for a casual yet tasty seafood experience. However, if we’re looking for an elevated dining experience, I’d recommend one of my personal favorites, the Intercontinental Hotels’ dining venues, especially the one in Barcelona, where I had an amazing time.
Being an avid traveler, my ideal day might not end in Detroit. I’d suggest extending our visit to meet somewhere incredible like Jeju Spa in Atlanta for a day of relaxation or perhaps heading out to Vegas to stay at the Wynn. If we wanted something more exotic, meeting up in Santiago, Chile, at the Mandarin Oriental, or exploring Barcelona while staying at the Intercontinental would be my top picks. I’m all about creating experiences that blend comfort, culture, and connection, so traveling abroad always comes to mind for a memorable time.
Overall, whether we’re exploring locally or jetting off internationally, I’d make sure my friend experiences the best of what I love—good vibes, great food, and unforgettable adventures!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
” My mom always believed in me and told me I would become an attorney one day.
While I initially thought that meant working for someone else, like Blue Cross, I
ultimately found my true path by creating my own opportunities. I had a pivotal moment when I was told that I would never be an attorney at Blue Cross. That experience made me realize I could carve my own path and become a CEO of my own company. I had no other choice but to see it, believe it, and act on it. My journey to where I am today was fueled by sheer determination. I refused to stay in a place where others defined my limits. My first big case was an intense and challenging one—I’m pretty sure it was an assault with intent to murder case. I remember the overwhelming feeling of accomplishment when I won, but when I wanted to celebrate, my client declined. I ended up going to a restaurant by myself. That moment taught me an important lesson: sometimes, you must celebrate your own victories, even if it means doing it alone. It reminded me of my childhood, where I was comfortable playing by myself, and I realized that this independence was preparing me for adulthood. I’ve come to understand that it’s okay if others aren’t always there to celebrate with you; what’s important is to celebrate yourself and your achievements.

When I negotiated my first big lawsuit settlement, I initially felt like I hadn’t pushed hard enough—I knew I could’ve gotten more for my client. So, I decided to keep pushing and asked for a higher amount, refusing to settle for their first offer. In the end, I secured double the original offer, which felt incredibly validating, especially given the injustice my client had faced. During a deposition, the opposing attorney tried to undermine me in front of my client, suggesting I didn’t know what I was doing. But I didn’t let that faze me; instead, I used it as motivation. I learned a lot from that experience and even thanked her for pushing me to be better. It taught me not to respect every opinion, especially
when it comes from someone trying to diminish my work. That moment reinforced my determination to advocate fiercely and never settle for less than what’s deserved.
My story is all about resilience, determination, and the power of consistency. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along my journey is to never give up. Even when it feels like progress is slow or like I’m not getting anywhere, I know the key is to stay consistent and keep pushing forward. That’s really what my brand is all about. In my office, I have a sign that says, “She believed she could, so she did,” which was given to me nearly 20 years ago. It perfectly captures my journey and the belief that others have always seen in me, even when I couldn’t see it in myself.
When it comes to inspiration, I don’t just look up to one person. I find motivation in the everyday people who hustle, strive, and aren’t afraid to work hard—even if it’s from a basement or a small room in their parent’s house. I draw inspiration from ordinary people who achieve extraordinary things, like the man I met on a cruise who built a pizza franchise from the ground up or the wine importer from Calgary who shared her passion and knowledge with me. It’s these individuals who get up every day, go to work, and chase their dreams that truly inspire me. I see myself as an ordinary person who’s been able to do some extraordinary things through sheer determination.
As for books that inspire me, I don’t have just one favorite. My bookshelf is filled with a variety of titles, including “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, “Tools of Titans” by Tim Ferriss, and “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron, among others. These books have provided me with insights, motivation, and new perspectives on how to approach life and business. They remind me that personal growth and learning are ongoing processes.
In the end, my journey is a testament to the power of faith, hard work, and believing in myself.
