We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimber Zatkovich and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimber, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
As a small business owner, there have been times where I’ve asked myself, “wouldn’t it just be easier to work for someone else and get a steady paycheck?” It’s in those moments I reflect on my Why.

What keeps me on track is honoring my internal drive and my passion. My “Why.” It is the core reason Custom Ideation exists— to help other entrepreneurs unlock their potential, support their success, and contribute to the growth of the small business community. When things get tough, as long as my “Why” still aligns with what I’m doing, I know I’m moving in the right direction.

When deciding whether to keep going, I remind myself why I started. If my passion for helping others remains strong and I believe I can still make a meaningful impact, then it’s worth pushing through. But I recognize that perseverance doesn’t mean being rigid. It’s about adapting, embracing change, and improving strategies to ensure long-term success in order to maintain a balance between being resilient and making smart, thoughtful decisions for the future.

If you find yourself on the edge of giving up, it’s important to remember that it’s not about enduring the journey, but instead evolving through it and embracing the powerful growth that happens when you do.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have worked in a wide array of industries and roles throughout my career. From corporate sales in the commercial office furniture industry to Director of Operations and Marketing for an architecture firm, and many other roles and responsibilities in between, I’ve traversed a squiggly professional path that has bestowed me with a diverse understanding of business on a multitude of levels. This has brought me to where I find myself today, in a vibrant community that has been home for the past eighteen years and where my business is based, but not limited to. While we are deeply connected and involved in the community, our network, as well as our team, extends beyond its geographic boundaries and we are excited about the continued growth and expansion for Custom Ideation.

Our Team is on a mission to help entrepreneurs build their businesses and create more meaningful work. We provide strategic marketing and operations support to small businesses both locally in Michigan and outside of the state.
