We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Scheumann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grace, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was that of I could not imagine doing anything else in this life. Photography has always been a great passion of mine so I just thought I might as well make it into a full-time career.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The thing that sets me apart from others is that when I do photography I pay attention to all of the little details. I want to make sure that these are pictures that you can look back upon for years and remember all the good memories and the fun time that you had getting them taken. Scheumann Photography is a company that when people hear the name I want them to think of the joy and laughter that they had while getting their pictures taken by me. I want everybody to feel comfortable and that they are having the best experience they could possibly have!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I am originally from Indiana, so that being said if I would have a friend come visit, I would most certainly take them to an Indiana University basketball game. These games make up my childhood and I would want to share that experience with my friend. After going to the game, we would probably go to the Deck, it is a restaurant in Fort Wayne that overlooks the St. Mary’s River while you eat a fantastic meal by the water. We would conclude our night by getting ice cream at Zesto. Though this restaurant is not very upscale, it holds a lot of memories from getting ice cream after every family occasion with my cousins and Grammy my entire life. And we would have to make sure to get the lemon ice cream because we always got lemon ice cream when we were younger.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my Grammy who passed away a couple of years ago. She was always my biggest supporter and she always was trying to get her friends to book with me as well as everybody in her community. She was my biggest Facebook supporter, as well as every time that she called me on the phone. She helped me get to where I am today by always showing me encouragement and love.
