Meet Lashanta & Errin Mitchell | Holistic Healers, Momtrepreneurs

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lashanta & Errin Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaShanta & Errin, what inspires you?
1. Starting a business has been a lifelong dream for us. Since childhood, we’ve envisioned various entrepreneurial ventures, from our first idea of running a candy store hangout to eventually creating and managing a marketing and event planning business together for several years. Throughout this journey, we’ve remained deeply committed to serving and healing our community while refining our creative skills.
2. “Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket”, which people often say in order to encourage someone to cast a wide net with their efforts. However, we strongly feel that sometimes you can spread yourself too thin trying to do too much. And instead of getting more things done, you just end up doing a lot of things poorly. We believe in putting the brunt of your energy into the thing that you want to see grow.
3. The Sacred Lounge was started during the Pandemic and at the time, we heard a lot of opinions saying that certain industries weren’t going to last due to covid constraints. We were told many times to do something more practical but again, we deeply align with the need for healing within our community. Although at the time we watched many businesses close for good, we believed that the risk was worth it, as long as we worked hard. No risk, no reward.
4. We have a strong habit of not giving up no matter how uncertain things may seem, no matter how the path may change, we are committed to staying the course. Our mother used to tell us ‘there’s more than one way to skin a cat’ and we really took that to heart. Once we made our minds up about what we wanted our futures to look like, our habit of stubborn perseverance carried us further.
5. Plain and simple – this is not a gimmick for us or just an avenue to make money. We strongly believe in fostering an environment focused on healing in a society that has been deeply wounded for centuries. Because we take our own healing very seriously, we believe that it will inspire other women to take their healing more seriously.
6. LaShanta – The most important lesson my business has taught me is that the reward lies in being myself and embracing the creative within. Also, to not compare myself or my journey to others. I fully embrace the present stage of my life, whatever that may look or feel like.
6. Errin – The most important lesson my career has taught me is that my goals and ambitions are as big as they are for a reason and although that may be scary, I am also equipped to handle such ambitions. I legitimately see myself changing the world, and to believe that about oneself is reason enough to try and achieve that goal. The world desperately needs more people who believe it is their highest calling to make this place better.
7. Right now, we are both still trying to find that balance, Between being moms, entrepreneurs, spouses, students, life can sometimes get overwhelming. Some days balance is a breeze and some days balance isn’t even word in my vocabulary. We’re going on year 4 in the business and we’ve certainly gotten better at managing all of our affairs but we also see the ways we can improve in the future.
8. The idea actually came from my personal journey of healing. I recognized that I was not the only person who was having this experience and simultaneously, I recognized that there weren’t any businesses that offered the services that I required.
9. The corporate career path doesn’t seem like it would fulfilling for either of us. We have big ideas and big imaginations so we wanted to have a career where we could put those creative skills to good use.
10. We are deeply inspired by our childhood. The trials, tribulations, joys and pains inspire us to create a better future, one that our inner child would be proud of.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets us apart is that we accept people for who they are and accept their current place in their journey. Sometimes, the holistic healing industry can make you feel as though you have to show up as an already healed version of yourself. Here, we encourage you to come as you are and we will meet you there. We are most proud of our growth, personally and professionally. We are most excited about expanding our products and services, as well as introducing new ways of healing. Not to mention, meeting new people. We’ve gotten to where we are today through trial and error and that good ol’ Detroit hustle. It was not easy in the slightest, we’ve had every road block you can think of. We just made sure to remain faithful, humble, and grateful. We have learned that we do not need to reinvent the wheel, we just have to keep gas in our tank on the road to mastering our craft. We want the world to know that there is always a need for a sacred space of healing and the Sacred Lounge is a great starting point for the women of our community.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, depending on what the weather was, I’d take her to the Little Caesars arena for a sporting event and then for lunch downtown. Detroit has a variety of eateries and bars that have very niche vibes, so I’d let her pick. We could even go to restock our makeup at the Lip Bar. I would want her to see the artistry here in the city, so I would have to take her to the museum district for an afternoon at the Detroit Institute of Arts or even a drive down Gratiot to see some of our famous murals .We would end the day watching the sunset on Belle Isle eating a Shawarma from Bucharest or some fresh Coney Island.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to all of our supporters, our bare babes, everyone in our village who has stepped up and stepped in when we needed the helping hand. But specifically our Bare babes, who have been keeping our dream alive.
