We had the good fortune of connecting with Lika Merabishvili and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My work has always been driven by a passion for youth education and creating opportunities for young people to thrive. Since I was 17, while I was still a student, I have been actively involved in youth development, ensuring that they receive the relevant education to succeed in an ever-changing world. This mission became even more impactful through my work at StrategEast, where, as a Regional Director in the Caucasus, I focus on fostering digital transformation, building innovation ecosystems, and connecting young professionals with global opportunities. By working closely with governments, private sector leaders, and universities, we design programs that equip students and young professionals with the skills needed to drive economic growth in the Caucasus and beyond.
In addition to my work at StrategEast, I also founded Space for Education and Development, an NGO dedicated to helping young people participate in European programs and gain the education necessary to expand their horizons. Furthermore, I have been teaching at the university level since I was 24 and currently serve as a professor and head of the bachelor’s program at Alte University.
Through all these initiatives, my goal remains the same: to empower the next generation with the knowledge, tools, and global connections they need to shape the future.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career has been shaped by relentless hard work, determination, and a passion for creating opportunities through education, technology, and global collaboration. I have never been afraid of challenges—in fact, I love them. Overcoming obstacles awakens a second soul in me, giving me the energy and strength to push forward, no matter how difficult the situation. There have been months when I barely slept, working tirelessly to turn ideas into reality. But I have always believed that hard work never goes unrewarded—even if success doesn’t come immediately, the universe always finds a way to bring it back to you like a boomerang.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect different sectors—education, policy, and innovation—to create sustainable change. At StrategEast, I work to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, ensuring that young professionals in emerging markets gain the skills, networks, and platforms they need to succeed. As a professor and head of the bachelor’s program at Alte University, I stay deeply engaged with the next generation, shaping education to meet the demands of the modern world.
Challenges have never scared me; they fuel me. Instead of seeing them as barriers, I see them as stepping stones that make success even more rewarding. I want the world to know that hard work always brings results—you just have to be patient, persistent, and passionate about what you do.
Most importantly, I believe that loving what you do is the key to everything. When you are passionate about your work, it doesn’t matter where you are or who you are working with—you will always feel at home. That’s exactly how I feel in every role I take on, and that’s what drives me forward every single day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The best time ever is now and here. If we consider which time period of my life I would receive guests, it is here and now. But in general, the best time to experience Georgia is truly right here in my hometown, Tbilisi. For me, summer holds a special place in my heart, so I’d absolutely love to show my best friend around during this vibrant season. Tbilisi comes alive with its charm, culture, and unique atmosphere, and I’d be thrilled to introduce them to all the best spots.
We’d start by exploring Old Tbilisi, with its narrow streets, stunning architecture, and famous sulfur baths. I’d also take them to a secret spot near Narikala Fortress, where we’d enjoy one of the most magical views of the city at night—this hidden place is my personal favorite and perfect for those who love quiet, beautiful moments away from the crowds.
After soaking in Tbilisi, I’d take them on a short trip to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. With its Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Mtskheta offers a peaceful retreat with a rich history.
In the evening, we can drink tea with dessert at the Mtatsminda Mountain and its restaurant with the view of Tbilisi in front of you.
One of the places I would absolutely recommend is Tusheti—a breathtaking region in Georgia. It’s a must-see for nature lovers, with its green fields, towering mountains, and traditional villages. The landscape is surreal, and it’s one of the most tranquil spots in the country. While there, I’d treat my friend to traditional Georgian Khinkali, a type of dumpling that’s truly unforgettable.
Of course, no trip to Georgia would be complete without a visit to the Black Sea coast. We’d head to Batumi, a charming city where modernity meets nature. We’d stroll along the seaside, enjoy the stunning views, and indulge in the famous Acharuli Khachapuri—a cheesy, delicious bread that’s iconic in Georgian cuisine.
Georgia is a small but cozy country, offering everything from winter ski resorts to summer beaches. The beauty of nature, the history, the culture, and the food all combine to create an experience that is truly unique. I’m always proud to share this incredible place with others, and I know anyone visiting would fall in love with its charm, just as I have.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My journey wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible people and institutions that shaped me along the way. First and foremost, I want to recognize my bachelor’s university, IBSU, which provided me with a modern education that made me competitive in the labor market right after graduation. The strong foundation I built there allowed me to step confidently into my career.
A special mention goes to my lecturer, Nino, who not only inspired me but also encouraged me to step into the NGO field—a decision that has since defined my career path. I am also deeply grateful to my older friend, Keti, who gave me the opportunity to become a lecturer and work with university students, something that has become one of the most fulfilling aspects of my professional life.
The EaP Civil Society Facility program was another key milestone, as it provided me with invaluable networking opportunities across Europe and beyond, expanding my perspective and allowing me to build meaningful international collaborations.
Of course, I must also recognize StrategEast, its president Anatoly Motkin, and the entire team, who have given me the platform to make a tangible impact in the Caucasus region. Our work in digital transformation, innovation ecosystems, and youth empowerment would not be possible without their support and dedication.
Lastly, I want to acknowledge the students and young professionals I have worked with—their passion and ambition continue to inspire me every day. Their success stories remind me why I do what I do, and I am committed to creating more opportunities for the next generation.
