We had the good fortune of connecting with PRECIOUS REED and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi PRECIOUS, how does your business help the community?
My home daycare plays a vital role in supporting families in our community who often face financial hardship and limited access to quality childcare. I provide a safe, nurturing, and affordable environment where children can grow, learn, and feel valued. Many of the parents I serve are single parents, working multiple jobs, or attending school to better their circumstances. By offering flexible hours, reasonable rates, and dependable care, I help relieve some of their stress and make it possible for them to pursue employment and education opportunities.

Beyond childcare, I also work to connect families with community resources such as food assistance, parenting support, and educational tools. My goal is not just to care for the children but to uplift the entire family. I believe when our children feel loved, supported, and inspired early in life, we break cycles of poverty and begin to build a stronger, more empowered community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Registered Nurse and a proud business owner of three growing ventures: a daycare, an assisted living facility, and a commercial building that leases suites to other entrepreneurs. Each business serves a unique purpose, but they are all rooted in my passion for helping others and creating opportunities in my community.

What truly sets me apart is my unwavering faith in God. I know that all things are possible through Him who strengthens me. That belief is the foundation of everything I do. I’ve faced many challenges, but I’ve overcome them by staying humble, praying, and trusting God through the process. Being a business owner is far from easy—there have been moments of uncertainty, fatigue, and sacrifice—but those moments have only deepened my faith and determination.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that being a successful business owner requires 100% effort—nothing less. You have to show up even when it’s hard, stay focused when distractions come, and be willing to grow through every obstacle.

I want the world to know that I’m just getting started. I have big dreams and a bigger God, and I believe this is only the beginning of what He has planned for me. My story is one of faith, perseverance, and purpose—and I pray that it inspires others to pursue their calling with boldness and grace.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite local spots is Scratch BBQ in Flint. The food is delicious, and the service is always welcoming and friendly. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel right at home with every visit—definitely a must-try if you’re in the area.

I also love St. Julian Winery in Frankenmuth. It’s such a fun and relaxing place, and what makes it even better is that it’s kid-friendly. It’s a great spot to enjoy time with family or friends, whether you’re there for a wine tasting or just to enjoy the atmosphere.

Another favorite of mine is Coffee Beanery in Downtown Flint. It’s a very nice coffee shop with a cozy vibe, perfect for catching up with friends, holding a casual meeting, or just enjoying a quiet moment with a good cup of coffee. It’s definitely a gem in the heart of the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely couldn’t have come this far without the support of my amazing husband, my children, my mom, and my best friend. They’ve been my backbone through every step of this journey—encouraging me when I wanted to give up, helping me with the kids, offering advice, and just being there in the moments I needed them most. Their love, patience, and belief in my vision have meant everything to me. This dream is ours, not just mine, and I’m beyond grateful for their presence in my life.
