Hi Akil, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?

The idea for Asim Supreme Products originated in the summer of 2013.I seized an opportunity to sell Shea Butter and African Black Soap at a local festival. The success of that weekend, earning close to $2000, inspired me to make it a full fledged business. Customer demand and inquiries led to the decision to expand the business. Securing body wash and gradually introducing other all-natural products marked the beginning of Asim Supreme Products’ growth. While the expansion brought profitability, it also posed challenges in managing increased orders. With the support of family and friends during overwhelming times, the business maintained its commitment to quality. Looking ahead, I envision continued growth for Asim Supreme Products.

What should our readers know about your business?

As an entrepreneur ,what sets me apart is my ambition and desire to win. I take pride in distributing the very best all natural skin and hair care products available , which has garnered me notable press and recognition. My journey to where I am today professionally has been a dynamic one. While it hasn’t been without challenges, the difficulties I encountered served as valuable learning experiences. Overcoming obstacles has only made me a better entrepreneur and businessman.One crucial lesson I’ve learned along the way is to never give up and remain persistent., it’s key. What excites me most is knowing the legacy that I will leave with not only Asim Supreme Products, but my other businesses ( Jabbar Grooming and A-Game Waves) as well.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I probably would take my best friend to Downtown Detroit, there’s always something going on there, sporting events, concerts, you name it. As far eating and things of that sort I’m a Birmingham or Royal Oak type guy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I dedicate this shoutout to the cherished memory of my late mother, Mildred Price. In hindsight, I recognize her as the singular force behind instilling in me the values of self-sufficiency and business acumen. From teaching me the nuances of filling out bank deposit and withdrawal slips at the tender age of five or six to emphasizing the importance of reading – a passion she consistently embodied with a book in hand – her influence was profound. I distinctly remember accompanying her on business errands, witnessing firsthand the responsibilities of managing finances and paying bills. Her early lessons, both practical and philosophical, have been the bedrock of my journey as an entrepreneur and multiple business owner. I owe the person I am today to the seeds of wisdom she planted in me.
