Meet Angela Davis | Singer/Song-writer, Entertainer, Owner – Angela Davis Entertainent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In the beginning, I only thought of myself as a Singer/Song-writer. However, over time, I realized that I am a brand and business. I had to hone in on my organization and leadership skills. After becoming more organized and taking my career into my own hands, I saw a positive increase in my business and demand for my talent.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Singer/Song-Writer from Detroit, MI. What sets me apart from others is my educational background. Not only am I a vocal coach but I am also a State of Michigan certified special education teacher. Having this experience allows me to help many people with their own artistry. I also have a unique song writing approach, which includes me writing about my experiences and of those close to me. I know that every story has the ability to touch and resonate with countless people all over the world. I’ve overcome challeneges in my life by continuing to press forward and never giving up on my dreams.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting and I wanted to show them an amazing time, I would take them to Downtown Detroit! First we would go to a concert at Aretha’s Ampitheater (Formally Chene Park) which is an amazing concert venue off of the Detroit River. After the concert, I would take them to a nice restaurant down town such as Sloppy Crab, Prime and Proper, or Sugar Factory to finish off the night.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out the Detroit Music Community. There are so many musicians and singers that have made a huge impact on me as an artist and without these amazingly talented people, I would not be who I am today. My Shades of United Ladies group mates Bianca Barber, Ava J, and Karla Pace-Fike, 313 Live Experience band, Producers/Composers : Alton James, Drew Keys, Alexander Goss, James Shelton, Jason Bethel, DeSean Jones, and Eric Tanona to name a few.
