We had the good fortune of connecting with Barry Yett II and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Barry, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Giving Up. Is just pure giving up on yourself. Entertainment and Business is just part of my make up. I feel like is what i supposed to do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my company, Crazy Noise Productions Inc almost 37 years ago to have my version of Motown Records from a Rap Music perspective. My rap partner, Illy-Ill was killed at 15 years old, so at a young age, I practiced on becoming numb to the tragedies and depression, to understand that you can’t control everything, to just create what you can control.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would get the local metro times newspaper, to see whats going on in the city for that week. I go to a few record stores, a recording studio, eat at a Sweet Water (Downtown Detroit) and cruise around Belle Isle park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give shoutout to the music scene in Michigan. YBP, Wesley Valentine and the staff at FunkyFreshInThaFlesh.
