Meet Brittany Bacinski | Author, Entrepreneur and Podcast Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Bacinski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Nearly everything great and magnificent that has happened to me in my life has happened as a direct result of taking risks. With every bold and brave choice I have made, I have tasted the sweetest fruit. I think a lot of people fear the unknown, but in my opinion, that unknown is where the magic is created. I am nearly addicted to calculated risk taking now because of the beautiful ways it has shifted my entire life and career. Once you start playing big, you can’t go back to playing small.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from others is my willingness to trust my intuition when it comes to my art. If I hear even the faintest call leading me in a new direction, I am very receptive to hearing what it wants to show me. Sometimes that leads me to switching lanes within the literary world, writing across multiple genres. I don’t really try to cram myself into a societal box of norms. Instead, I do what feels natural and listen to the whispers from within.
If I’m honest, it is not always easy to create art and work in this way. It can sometimes feel like a swift pendulum swinging me into a full blown identity crisis. One minute I’m a best selling cookbook author with an apron tied around my waist and the next minute, I’m rolling up my sleeves to write a dark romance novel.
I think I overcome this challenge through radical self acceptance, self appreciation and self love. I allow myself be the fullest version of who I am and I think that is what makes the work feel more magnetic. It keeps the energy real and true. People can feel that.
And if there is anything I would want the world to know about me and my story, is they harness this magic within themselves, too. As we get older, the faint whisper is harder to hear. But when we allow ourselves to be still and really listen, we discover that we have all of the answers were seeking already inside of us.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I adore a great coffee shop vibe and aesthetic. My personal favorite right now is Drifter Coffee in Ferndale, Michigan. I’m in love with their seasonal house made syrups and the energy there is always top tier.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank one of my very first writing mentors, my friend and fellow author, Elle Nash. She is the epitome of embracing your authentic expression and taking massive risks within your work, even in the face of rejection and push back. She fearlessly paves the way for mothers and women in general to follow their art in the depths, to trust our muse and worry less about what anything thinks about you or your work. We all need that permission sometimes.
