We had the good fortune of connecting with Cam S. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cam, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Even though this is typically the answer for questions like this, I believe it is a split between consistency and being in the right place at the right time. I think success for content creators comes from 25% work and the other 75% is up in the air. I am consistently trying to post and make create new things for my followers. With that said, it can sometimes be hit or miss on whether a specific video is successful or not. Sometimes I will post something expecting it to do well and it simply does not, other times a completely random video will gain a lot of traction. I have even posted the same video on two different days and they have had completely different results. My best advice for anyone trying to become a content creator is to not be discouraged if there are not immediate results, it takes time along with some trial and error.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Basically, I just enjoy filming my hunting and fishing trips and sharing them with others to see. Although I have over 40,000 followers on TikTok, I would say that I am more excited or proud about recently gaining over 1,000 subscribers on YouTube. YouTube is where I began posting from the start. I have also heard that the first 1,000 is the hardest milestone to achieve and that it’s all uphill from there, and I’m hoping that will be the case. Like I explained earlier, I got to where I’m at based on consistency. I would not say it was easy as I have gone through cycles of producing content and cycles of not producing anything at all. With that said, I do think just about anyone can do it if they continue to stay motivated to keep working, even during the times that they are not seeing immediate success or results. I would say that the way that I overcame these challenges is just the fact that I genuinely enjoy doing it. I truly believe that I would still film and post my hunts even if I had zero followers. I may not do it to the extent of what I do today, but I would still enjoy documenting my hunts. I think the biggest lesson that I have learned along the way is to keep grinding at everything. There were points where I would take breaks from making content. Looking back, I know I could have gone much further much sooner if I would have been consistent the entire time. I guess the only thing that I would like people to know is that if they are interested in creating something of their own then they should just go for it. Stay persistent even through the little failures along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are not a whole lot of places to go or things to see in my area, but that’s I how I like things. I prefer to be in the woods or on the water. So, if I were to take someone someplace for the week I know a few fishing spots that we could try out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My first inspiration came from watching other content creators from a young age. I believe I can attribute the creation of my channel to watching many fishing videos of Jon B, his channel opened up my eyes to the fact that I can pursue a potential future recording hunting and fishing. In my more recent years, I have gotten a lot of my inspiration for videos from Seek One. The quality of videos that they post and the message they share is a goal that I’d like to pursue myself. Both of these channels started somewhere and they have helped to motivate me to attempt to achieve the same thing.

Although these two channels were my motivation to start, my family is who has gotten me to where I am at. My grandfather also contributed to me starting. He always suggested from a young age that I keep a hunting and fishing journal so I can always look back on what I have done. Filming videos is my way of documenting these memories. The rest of my family has been extremely supportive through the years as well. They were my first supporters, followers, and likes and they continue to be those things for me today. When I had a very small following I could always count on my family to show support on my videos. I would not have been able to make the progress that I have without their support and help. I am beyond grateful for them.
