We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace Estwick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candace, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business began with my daughter. I started making soap from scratch because everything even the sensitive and “natural” soaps irritated her. I pondered on what to do, and I said well let’s make it ourselves. That lead me to think about what else I could make naturally without all of the things that could irritate skin but also help nourish, moisturize, and heal the skin. And viola! Body butter came to mind and I dove into research. That research also led me
To many failed recipes which led me to esthetician school to understand skin and what we need but naturally!

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Butter Me Up Body Butter apart from others is the fact we make our butters with love, small batches, non toxic ingredients and with your skin healing in mind!

Nothing in business is easy, lol, but I will say each day we tackle every challenge with an attitude of gratitude with hopes of growth! It isn’t easy but it isn’t impossible! I’ve learned no matter what, KEEP GOING!

I want the world to know that my brand was built with a purpose to help and heal. Anyone can make body butter, but we butter with a purpose and started for a cause for a market that is based on sell, sell, sell when want to simply HEAL AND HELP!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Downtown Detroit has become a town that feels like out of town, but the inner city has as well.

With the Lions on the best streak since I’ve even been alive, we’d catch a game, go eat at Coney Island of course. That’s just a Detroit staple that can’t be passed up.

If it’s summer time we would for sure hit the water for a boat ride around belle isle and enjoy the good weather.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My daughter Chloe is my special shoutout! She’s the reason all of this began and also my
Motivation to this day! I recently sent out a pr package and she helped me pack some orders up. As we were packing she told me she prayed for the success of my business and she appreciates me starting it. That melted my heart and I told her she’s the reason it all began in 2018
