Hi Cassandra, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of VM Skincare is TRUST. From the very beginning, my mission has been to create a brand that women can truly rely on—one that delivers on its promises with integrity and transparency. I built VM Skincare because I couldn’t find products that were both non-toxic and effective, and I knew other women were facing the same frustration.

At the core of VM Skincare is a commitment to quality, from sourcing ethically grown ingredients to using 100% cold-pressed organic oils. Every product is formulated with the intention of delivering real results—whether it’s soothing inflammation, boosting collagen, or protecting the skin barrier.

I think my audience resonates with this authenticity. They trust that I’m personally involved in every aspect of the process, from ingredient selection to ensuring sustainable and eco-friendly practices. This trust extends beyond the products to the values behind them, and I believe that connection has been instrumental in VM Skincare’s success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What truly sets VM Skincare apart is that it’s made for Queens. VM stands for ‘Vashi’s Magic,’ inspired by Queen Vashti, one of the first queens in the Bible, known for her unparalleled beauty. Our products feature ingredients used by ancient queens such as Queen Esther and Cleopatra, blending time-honored traditions with modern innovation. This is skincare fit for royalty, designed to make every woman feel like the queen she is.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Building a business from the ground up meant navigating moments of self-doubt, learning the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, and facing countless challenges. What kept me going was my faith, the support of my family, and the framework I learned from The Blox.

One of my proudest achievements is knowing VM Skincare isn’t just a brand—it’s a relationship. Customers trust that our products are pure, effective, and made with intention, and that trust means everything.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to surround yourself with the right people and spend your time wisely. Do not wear yourself out working, and trust me, this was the most difficult lesson for me to learn but take time to be still and that’s really where your most creative ideas flourish.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d have the ultimate week filled with fun, luxury, and just the right dose of relaxation! Here’s the plan:

Day 1: Welcome to My World
We’d kick things off with a luxe dinner at a spot that specializes in fresh seafood—because what’s better than buttery crab legs paired with a chilled glass of Veuve Clicquot? Think a gorgeous waterfront restaurant with stunning sunset views to set the vibe. Possibly Rivercrab in St. Clair, MI, I love it is so quaint, excellent service and quiet atmosphere.

Day 2: Nature and Nourishment
We’d start the day with a morning hike in a scenic spot, taking in the beauty of nature—my favorite way to recharge. The afternoon? A spa day, of course! Facials, massages, and some much-needed pampering at Spa Thyme in Rochester, as she only uses organic VM Skincare products.

Day 3: Shop ‘Til We Drop
What’s a girls’ trip without a little retail therapy? We’d hit up some chic local boutiques, especially those that feature women-owned brands, downtown Rochester is the place to go!

Day 4: Culture and Cocktails
This would be our day to explore! Detroit Institute are art is a favorite spot of mine, and then I’d see where my favorite local artist Natalie Shirley Studios is displaying her art. We’d soak up some inspiration. Dinner would be at Phoenicia in Birmingham for the best espresso martinis and their eggplant feta appetizer. Business focused dinner on sharing ideas and sharing inspiration.

Day 5: Beach Bliss
If the weather’s perfect, we’d spend the day over in Grand Haven.. It’s all about soaking up the sun, walking the pier and beach chatting about life, and enjoying the waves.

Day 6: Nightlife and Nostalgia
We’d wrap things up with a fun night out—karaoke or a local jazz club to keep it classy yet fun. Somewhere we can reminisce, laugh, and create a few new memories.

Day 7: Farewell for Now
The last day would grabbing breakfast and already planning our next adventure.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My highest praise and thanks is unto God, who created me with a passion for creativity and gave me a heart for lifting others up. This foundation has guided every step of my journey with VM Skincare.

I’d like to recognize Beta Blox / Wes Bergmann, which profoundly shaped my business philosophy. His philosophy of “build, measure, learn , repeat”‘ is a philosophy I apply daily, allowing me to create products that truly meet my customers’ needs.

Relationships have also been key. Surrounding myself with my community, supporting women-owned businesses, and connecting with other entrepreneurs have provided inspiration and encouragement along the way.

Lastly, I want to highlight my sister, Carlie. She encouraged me to go for it and helped me build this business from the ground up. She’s brilliant, kind, and has an eye for perfection, and I couldn’t have done it without her.
