We had the good fortune of connecting with Christine Bresett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I initially delved into the world of professional photography, my passion for design was ignited, particularly in crafting graphic tee designs. As I worked in retail and sales, I found myself not only approached for graphic tee designs and vinyl stickers but also for branding and marketing projects. This realization sparked the idea that I could be my boss, set flexible hours, and be more present for my family while working from home during the pandemic.

With the demand for my services evolving towards branding and marketing and my business partner stepping back to focus on her growing family, I saw an opportunity for growth. I decided to continue the journey as a solo artist. This shift has allowed me to rebrand and further specialize in the areas where my skills and passion align.

Since then, my business has flourished, and I’m excited about the continued expansion of my skills and the creative opportunities that lie ahead.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My artistic journey has been marked by a commitment to excellence, and I take immense pride in maintaining a 3.93 GPA during my school years. The dedication to my education reflects my passion for continuous learning and pushing myself to new heights. I’m particularly excited about the opportunity to share my story in this third interview, showcasing the evolution of my career as both a graphic designer and photographer and a dedicated business owner.

Balancing a full-time job at a credit union with the demands of school and running my own business has been a challenging yet rewarding experience. Learning effective time management has been key to maintaining this delicate balance. Juggling these responsibilities while prioritizing my family’s needs, especially considering the unique challenges faced by two of my children with disabilities, has taught me the importance of resilience and adaptability.

Throughout this journey, I’ve discovered the significance of having the drive and determination to navigate challenges and find solutions. Maintaining a healthy work-play balance and prioritizing mental health have become integral aspects of my approach. I want the world to know that I am a self-made mother of three who views dyslexia not as a disability but as a unique perspective that allows me to think outside the box.

When it comes to my art, I actively use the creative brief as a vital tool in both photography and graphic design. This allows me to understand and bring to life my clients’ visions, ensuring that each project is a true reflection of their ideas and aspirations.

In essence, my journey is a testament to the power of determination, adaptability, and the belief that differences in ability can be sources of strength. I’m excited about the creative challenges ahead and the opportunity to continue translating my clients’ visions into visually stunning realities.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area, I’d make sure to show them some of the gems of Southwest Michigan. We’d start by taking in the stunning sunset at South Haven Beach, one of my absolute favorite spots. The following day would be all about the great outdoors, with a hike through the beautiful Sleeping Bear Dunes and the exhilarating 4×4 adventures offered at Silver Lake Sand Dunes. We’d indulge in local flavors, stopping by our beloved ice cream shop and exploring the impressive collection at the Gilmore Car Museum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a significant part of my journey to my family’s unwavering support and encouragement, especially my husband, Ron. Without his belief in my dreams, I might not be where I am today. Ron drove my decision to pursue my degree and turn my passion into a fulfilling career. His constant encouragement and belief in my abilities have been the cornerstone of my success.

A special shoutout is also reserved for Peter Rulon, a Coastal Carolina Community College photography instructor. Peter played a pivotal role as a mentor, imparting invaluable skills and pushing me to delve deeper into the art of photography. His guidance has been instrumental in shaping my craft and instilling the confidence to pursue my passion.

In addition to my family and Peter Rulon, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to my clients. Their trust in my work, the positive word of mouth, and the incredible networking opportunities they’ve provided have been instrumental in the growth of my business. It’s a testament to the power of collaboration and the relationships built along this journey.

So, a big shoutout to Ron, Peter Rulon, and all my wonderful clients! Your support and belief in my abilities have propelled me forward, and I am genuinely grateful for the roles each of you has played in my story.
