Meet Corri Riebow | Metalsmith and Jewelry Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Corri Riebow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Corri, what do you want people to remember about you?
When you are creating tangible pieces of art, it feels like you are bringing to life pieces of your soul. Every piece of jewelry I make started as an idea that became a reality.
I hear time and time again that when people wear my jewelry, they feel beautiful and happy. Bringing people joy and beauty that they can not only share with others but pass on for generations is my legacy.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I don’t believe that starting and running a business is ever easy. There are easier times and then more challenging times. Like so many other jewelry artists, I make “one of a kind” jewelry. The market is so saturated that this can seem cliche, but when you make handmade jewelry, your character and personality shines through in your work.
I am a “recovering perfectionist” and have learned over the years to embrace tiny flaws and mistakes. If it’s a big mistake it goes in my junk pile and more often than not will be repurposed or reused at some point. Any copper or silver scraps I have get melted down eventually and used in my work.
These reasons are why my brand motto is that I create jewelry for the free spirited individual seeking beauty, not perfection on their journey through life. Mistakes and flaws can be beautiful too!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in the small, rural town of Paris. We don’t have a lot of “attractions” here but visiting Paris Park and the Eiffel tower during warmer months when the park is open is always a must. There’s a great little antique shop here too. We also have an amazing pizza place here called Pizza in Paris and one of our neighboring towns is a college town with a great brewery, Crankers and other restaurants. Reed City Brewing Company to the north of us is another great little spot to meet up with friends. Living in Michigan we have tons of lakes and rivers and of course Lake Michigan and Lake Huron on either side of the lower peninsula. Even though I live in a small farming community there is always somet to do around here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, friends and former co-workers are a huge reason why I started my business. I would never have taken that leap without all their encouragement and support!
