Hi Demeria, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
For me, giving up is never the first option, especially when something carries purpose beyond just business. When I face challenges, I take a step back to evaluate Is this a moment to pivot, or am I just experiencing resistance that I need to push through. I also rely on faith, prayer, and wisdom from trusted mentors. If I know that my vision is aligned with my purpose, I keep going, even when it’s hard. But if I realize that something is no longer serving its purpose or that God is shifting me in a new direction, I’m open to change. Either way, I don’t make decisions out of frustration I make them with intention.”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Lavish Luxury Spa is more than just a beauty business—it’s a testimony of resilience, faith, and purpose. I specialize in waxing and lash extensions, but at its core, Lavish Luxury is about helping people feel confident, valued, and cared for. I started this journey because, at 18, I had a felony on my record that shut the doors to the healthcare career I originally wanted. Instead of letting that define me, I pivoted and found my passion in esthetics, a field where I could still care for people in a meaningful way.

What sets Lavish Luxury Spa apart is the experience I provide. It’s not just about a service…it’s about creating a safe, welcoming space where people can relax and feel uplifted. I pour my heart into every client, and I think that’s what keeps them coming back.

Getting to where I am today was not easy. I’ve faced financial struggles, self-doubt, and the challenge of balancing motherhood, business, and life’s unexpected moments. But I never let obstacles stop me—I prayed, stayed persistent, and kept learning. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth requires discomfort. Every setback has shaped me, and every challenge has prepared me for more.

What I want the world to know is that Lavish Luxury Spa is built on faith, perseverance, and the belief that your past doesn’t define your future. If you have a dream, fight for it, invest in it, and trust that God will make a way even when it seems impossible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
start the day with breakfast at Corner House or First Watch, followed by a walk along the Detroit Riverwalk. We’d get a good workout in with a Pilates class or a session at LA Fitness, then unwind with an elegant dinner at Prime + Proper or J. Alexander’s. To end the night, we’d soak in the city views and mock tailsat Monarch Club—the perfect mix of relaxation and luxury.”

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
“I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to God first and foremost—without Him, I wouldn’t be where I am today. He has carried me through every challenge, and Lavish Luxury Spa is more than a business; it’s a testimony of His grace. I also want to recognize my fiancé and my son, Syncere, who give me the strength to keep pushing. My journey hasn’t been easy, but their love keeps me grounded.

Beyond that, I’m incredibly grateful for my friends and family who have supported me through every season, as well as the clients who have trusted me with their self-care. Lastly, my past experiences—both the struggles and victories—deserve credit, because they shaped the woman and entrepreneur I am today.
