Meet Domonique Oliver | Fashion Designer & Pastry Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Domonique Oliver and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Domonique, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by colors, fashion, and the different trends for each season.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In 2012 I graduated from International Academy of Design & Technology in Troy Michigan with my Bachelor”s Degree in Fashion Design, I then begin to focus on sewing garments and creating pieces for scratch that I would make and sell to anyone that was interested. I always had a love for colors and just creating pieces that are different and stand out. I got married and was working at a department store while also focusing on being a mother to my first daughter then a few years down the line I had my second daughter. which I begin to put my creative skill on the back burner. But in 2020 I got back in my creative zone during the pandemic and I begin to take a liking to baking cakes and desserts. When I would post on social media people begin to like them so I created my Pastry business “Unique Feast & Treats”. A couple years after that I started back designing fashion again and I began to customize shoes, and clothes. That’s when I started my fashion business “Unique Dripp”. Along the way I have learned that it’s okay to take a break from your business because sometimes it can be stressful when trying to balance being a mother, and a wife while still trying to find the time to push out your orders or be in your creative mind set. But I have learned to just keep pushing no matter what and learn how to manage my time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to shop in Troy Michigan at Oakland Mall they have a lot of hidden gem stores, I also love to shop at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills Michigan where you can shop, but also grab a bite to eat at the Rain Forest cafe with has a colorful live environment. I also love to eat at Yard House in Troy. In Rochester Hills they have a 168 Crab & Karaoke where I love to go and song and have drinks with my loved ones.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I ‘am today without my parents supporting me and pushing me to my full potential . Also I wouldn’t be able to stay home and focus on starting my business if it wasn’t for the support of my loving husband Jason who has been holding down the household so I can put my love and energy into my craft. Also my two daughters Monique and Jayonna their love and support keeps me pushing even when things get tough because I want to continue to be a great role model for my children.
