Meet Dragos Burghiu | Fine Arts Painter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dragos Burghiu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dragos, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
There really isn’t such a thing as “work life balance”. When you love what you do work and life are the same thing. I have way too many ideas to complete that this single lifetime can’t cover. I’m constantly looking for ways to spend more time on my painting.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Like many artists, I can’t recall a time when I wasn’t drawing or painting. Some of my earliest memories are of watching my father, an artist himself, create. However, I didn’t see being an artist as a means to making a living until my mid 20’s. After earning a BFA in Graphic Design, I freelanced as a designer, but found the work unfulfilling. It was while creating my own art on the side that I had a revelation: I wanted to dedicate myself fully to painting. I was 25 at the time, and that certainty I felt during my revelation still lives with me today. Now, my life and craft are inseparable, and I grow more absorbed in the process every day.”
What sets me apart from artists today is my unique style. I use sculpture like textures to create paintings I encourage my audience to touch. I call my style texturalism, and at it’s heart, is meant to highlight how digital media can’t capture an in person experience.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In the morning, I’d set up a lazy river tubing event. My friend, a whole bunch of other friends, and I would get some inflatable pool toys and use them to float down a river for the majority of the day. After we’d BBQ by the lake and at night go out bar hopping for a bit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My supports system of family and friends who keep me sane, are the ones who deserve the shout out.
