We had the good fortune of connecting with Erick Palacios-cruz Hunter Major and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erick Palacios-Cruz, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
It all started with a sticky note and a dream. To create a positive change in an attempt to #GLU3theWorldTogether. Erick and Hunter met in 2018 attending the same University, shortly after they realized they shared similar goals and dreams.
They both understood the importance of a team dynamic to achieve these goals and thus the GLU3 Collective was born.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our art comes in the form of clothing, accessories, and space curation. We pride ourselves on creating things that push the limits of reality resulting in a unique product and space for everyone to enjoy.

The possibilities of the future excite us the most. We hope to be able to make this our full-time career surrounded by our closest friends and family.

We got most of our business skills through our education but our growth came from building connections and creating a community.

The road has not always been easy but we try to step back and approach any obstacles from a new angle. Working together to come up with a solution that works for everyone involved.

The biggest lesson we have learned is the power of supporting those around us. It creates a domino effect of support that trickles through the community.

We will conclude by saying that we are just two guys living our dreams and your support means the world to us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We have been in the city now for 7 years and we are always finding new things to do. Some of our favorite food spots are Avalon Bakery, ima, Jolly Pumpkin, and Lafayette Coney Island. We love to spend the day at Belle Isle on a sunny day. Eastern Market is also a great place to be on a Saturday morning. When the sun goes down we love to catch shows at iconic venues such as the Masonic Temple, Magic Stick, and the Tangent Gallery. You also can’t go wrong catching a Detroit sporting event. Detroit is a great place to work, live, and play. We encourage everyone to visit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A special shoutout to Kyle Thomas and Richard Hall for believing in our vision and being our first investors which helped plant the seeds of our dreams. Also would like to give an honorable mention to Joy Blimka for all the free work she does for us and for being a valuable asset to our team.
