Meet Goldyn Gambit | Goth Rockstar/event curator/booking agent/artist consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Goldyn Gambit and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Goldyn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind my business was creating a community that is musician/band/artist friendly. By me being an artist also, and understanding how difficult it is to try and pursue this career I wanted to have a service that was affordable! Most of the time I don’t even charge artist to book their shows because I love being around the environment, and I feel that my business is attached to my brand of not just being a platform but a safe and reputable place for talented individuals to interact with
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The last year being my most significant because it’s when I transitioned from hip hop to more goth/alternative rock. I’ve received great feedback and really built my brand from the ground up. My music at its core is created from heartbreak, substance abuse and trying to overcome severe anxiety and depression. I use this art that appears dark on the surface to make light of situations. the fact I book my own shows & events for other artist/bands has became my niche in a sense and allowed me to build great relationships with venues and other creatives ! I’m extremely consistent, I am usually involved with 6-7 events per month and I’ve even headlined the punkland tour in Toronto. I got to where I’m at by not letting up and inspiring people to be them selves hence why I wear black lipstick and black tears, expressing my self on stage with intense energy! It was not easy at all, and still very difficult. I’m conflicted with self doubt, discouragement, and the dreadful feeling of being in a constant battle within my self to be great! Lessons I’ve learned are to keep like minded people around for support and also give myself much needed mental rest days.. I want the world to know brand Goldyngambit is truly about overcoming fear, being yourself, no matter what it may look like, realizing your full potential and standing up to the world
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to leland city club in Detroit, it’s where the coolest goths hang out and play the best music on the weekends and they are open til 330am! I would take them to Franco’s pizza they have the best cheese sticks! Side car burger bar in Birmingham for sliders and lemon drops, new dodge lounge in Hamtramck, because it’s one of the best live music dive bars in the area !
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Alot of my inspiration for doing this comes from dane Crotto aka dane dope rock ! A pivotal person in the underground music scene I watched him from afar being supportive of lots of bands/artist music & live performances and I was astonished how respectful and professional he was. That is very rare in the music scene. He also curates events, books shows, does elite level marketing, makes music, films videos and is a Jack of all trades so I really admired that about him! He is a great friend, and I’m proud to have crossed paths with him
