Meet J.Street | Artist / Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with J.Street and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi J.Street, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I am a believer that we all have a purpose in life. Everybody. Rather it be to have kids and raise a family in a more traditional way or to be a fireman or policeman. All of those things have a VERY important purpose in our world and without them the world wouldn’t be the same. This is why I chose to be a musician. I have a belief that my work is needed in this world the same way you would need a fireman or policeman. I have a message to deliver to the world with my words. I love creating music and I could not see myself doing anything else.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I set myself away from the crowd musically because I am not scared to wear my pain. When I say “wear my pain” I mean tell you what’s REALLY going on. In some songs I’ll talk about my family or even my neighbors, the freedom of speech is beautiful. I try to make all of my music relatable. It was not easy to get where I am today. Somedays I have my doubts. I have been working in a professional recording studio for over 10 years and I still get terrified of the thought that maybe one day this will have to come to an end. It’s very stressful. It really helps me to just take it one day at a time and just try to give 110% every time my name is called on. I just want the world to know that no matter what you gotta keep going. No matter how hard life gets the world is going to keep spinning. Don’t let this cold world eat you up. If you need to go talk to someone please go do it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Mix Factory One Studio’s. I am not just saying this because I am the manager there but there is so much going on in our studio. We have weekly events for up & coming local artist to connect with, an amazing internship program as well as recording with a lot of big artist in the music industry. Even if you are just a fan of music coming to check out our facility is a treat. You’ll get to see all of our Grammy’s and billboard plaques that we have and are currently trying to add to. We are open to the public, just give us a call.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would actually like to shoutout my mother (RIP). She is the main reason I am where I am today. I’ve always had the dream to make music since a child and she motivated me every step of the way to her best ability. She was single my entire life and I was the youngest of four. She had a very rough life but never really complained and made the best out of her situation. She passed away in 2016 and shortly after that my grand-mother (her mom) passed away that same year. My family has had to deal with a lot of pain. The only way for me to stay sane is to create music.
