We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Princinsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For most of my life, I tended to be very risk averse. But I’ve developed a lot over the years and now I think I just had a fear of loss. I liked playing it safe and knowing what to expect, but it didn’t get me anywhere. After some personal struggles, I felt more inclined to work past my fears instead of letting them determine my decisions. In my career as a photographer, I have taken so many bold risks that I never thought I would take, but the results have been outstanding. There is no way I would have been able to accomplish as much as I have without those risks. Now I find the risks to be rather exciting!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My photography style is photojournalist focused and I found that my talent is not only in how I see other people, but in my ability to capture them in their own unique and beautiful special way. I’m really proud of the business that I’ve cultivated over the years, which certainly had challenges, but I believe the development was smooth when I followed all the signs presented to me. It wasn’t long after I started using my camera that I happened to find a photographer who needed help shooting at a wedding and this was my first opportunity. Gosh, thinking back now, I was so nervous! But I did my best and the photographer told me how her career took off and it gave me the insight I needed to move forward. Little by little, every encounter and experience I had gave me a clue on which move to make, it’s truly amazing. I have learned so many lessons, I’m not sure if they would all fit in this Shoutout! But what I want people to know is that my company is all about celebrating you and how amazing you are through every chapter of your life!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Yesss! We would spend most of our time in Depot Town where there are all kinds of things to do. We can get our coffee from Hyperion, grab pizza at Aubree’s, and hang out at Mash for some drinks and good live music! Just walking around town is beautiful because of all the historical preservation and kind people all around town!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! I have had significant support along my journey from friends and family. What is remarkable about this industry is that I have encountered many other photographers who support community over competition and were more than happy to share their stories, insights, and suggestions. Specifically, there are two people who have touched my heart in a special way throughout these years: Crystal Ferguson and Natasha Daniels. These ladies are talented, encouraging, and supportive. I am truly grateful for their support and comradery!
