Meet John Guest | Owner of Guest Painting, Entrepreneur & Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with John Guest and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We live in uncertain times, and having your own business gives you an opportunity to succeed when an employer might fail. When we revived Guest Painting in 2022, we looked at owning a small business as a way of future proofing our income over time.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Guest Painting Inc. is a 3rd generation, family owned company. From inception, Guest Painting has been a husband and wife collaboration. I feel this gives us a unique perspective when understanding a customer’s needs and desires for their projects.
My proudest moments are when we can complete a job on time, on budget, and have our customers thrilled with the outcome.
When we started, we did all of our own work to ensure that customers received excellent care. The benefit is that we understand the problems and unique challenges in the painting industry. Now that we have a fulltime painting crew, we can see the challenges coming before they even arrive at a job.
Surface preparation is everything!
Guest Painting focuses on very high quality work and satisfied customers. We look for reliability in our own service providers so as a service provider, we focus on being reliable for our customers.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In this business, we rely on the cumulative influences of the people who have come before us. For me, I have to give full credit to my mom and dad for bravely jumping into self-employment in 1969 when they started Guest Painting and Decorating. Their influence and education they provided me was the foundation for all of my successful endeavors.
