We had the good fortune of connecting with Kamyra Cheatham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kamyra, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Yes, my business does help the community because I help educate women about womb healing holistically. I offer services and information to women to help them heal internally. A lot of women struggle with heavy menstrual cycles, cysts, fibroids, and vaginal infections and do not know of proper and healthy ways to treat those conditions and others. Most of the time when we are diagnosed with these conditions we are offered birth control or some form of medication that treats one part of the issue but creates another. My goal is to educate women of all ages and bring awareness to the benefits of using herbs and healing naturally. I also provide herbs and services for womb healing sessions.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is focused on a practice called yoni steaming or also known as vaginal steam therapy. This is a practice that has been done by women in many cultures for many decades . Vaginal steaming is done to help maintain good reproductive health, heal, treat infections, diseases, cysts, fibroids, cleansing after menstrual cycles & child birth or to simply relax and have a moment of self care. I am especially excited about this business because it allows women to reconnect with themselves & their womb. It offers a holistic alternative to birth control also known as hormone therapy and helps rid the body of sickness by healing with herbs. This practice is not talked about or offered by medical providers as an alternative to medication and I want to teach and show women that there is an alternative that does not have life altering side effects. Most young girls who get on birth control as teenagers are dealing with cysts, blood clots, fibroids, hormone imbalances and infertility as a result of being dependent on birth control. Adapting to this form of healing can prevent as well as cure most diseases within our uterus that have been caused by birth control, poor eating habits as well as day to day products we use. I want to teach women how to use herbs to heal because for every illness we encounter within our bodies there is a herb that can correct it, if used correctly without the risk of damaging our reproductive system.
Growing my business has had its challenges, one being that this is not a practice that most women grew up knowing about so they are unfamiliar with what it is and unsure if it works. Most women that I encounter have never heard of vaginal steaming and have no idea of the benefits or how to do it. Although this is hindering, it gives me the opportunity to teach and serve my community by educating and giving women the tools and knowledge that they need to heal themselves. I teach women how to cleanse themselves naturally without having to use products and medications that come with side effects and can potentially cause more damage that help in the long run. While this has not been easy, growing a new business that is unfamiliar to most I am thankful this assignment has been placed on me. The feedback that I get from my clients after they steam is beyond rewarding and I look forward to continuing to serve my community and do my part in helping women heal. If there was one thing I could tell the world, especially young women because we are the portals that bring new life into the world, it would be to take care of your body. Take the extra steps, eat a well balanced diet, do the research and take care of your womb. Women set the tone of the environment that children are born into and that should be taken more seriously than it has been. More women are having complicated pregnancies and facing infertility at a higher rate because we have not been giving the proper education and tools about how to care for our reproductive organs. I will be expanding my services in the near future to provide classes for women and releasing more products to help with struggles we face when it comes to cramps & heavy menstrual cycles. Until then I highly encourage women to add vaginal steaming to their monthly self care regimen, and if you’re in the Canton area I would love to service you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am more of a homebody so I do not go out to many places however there are a few that I like to visit. If my best friend was coming to visit we would definitely go eat at a vegan restaurant since I am vegan. There are a few places that I absolutely love so we would probably visit at least 2. I really enjoy the restaurant Detroit filling station located in Ann Arbor. Seva is a really great restaurant in Ann Arbor as well and they have a location in Detroit. I also would take her to PieSci pizza located in Detroit. They have the best pizza I have ever eaten even before I started eating vegan. We would then find something very laid back to do. Something like a Paint & sip or candle making. We would then visit La Casa Cigar Lounge located in Detroit late that evening. I do seem to meet some good people whenever I go there, it’s always a good vibe and a good time. So nothing too much, just a few things to get out and enjoy the day/evening.I am more of a homebody so I do not get out to many places however there are a few that I like to visit. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to Mariah. She is located in Atlanta and she is the first woman to educate me on the importance of yoni steaming consistently and the benefits. After listening to her teachings and trying it for myself regularly I became more intrigued and satisfied with the results. I then knew this was something that I needed to continue to share and educate other women about. After a while Mariah decided she wanted to start teaching classes to teach women to become practitioners and start their own business and I knew I needed to go. Unfortunately right as I was going to buy a ticket to go down to Atlanta Covid hit and we were on lockdown. So I found a woman near by in Detroit named Elissa Rose and took her class for the same certification. I am also appreciative of her for her class and taking the time out to teach. Shortly after I received my certification I birthed my own business with the goal to continue to help women heal naturally. So thank you and shoutout to those two women who helped to educate me and get me started with the knowledge I needed to continue to help other women.
